Seriously piny, lots of resin & bitterness. I prefer a little more late/dry hops.

Bottle from Sean. Thanks man! Served in Schramm's snifter.
A - Generous white foam settles to a partial cap, thick collar, and glass-coating lace. Lightly hazed golden body.
S - Smells like catty Simcoe hops; if you normally get cat pee from these hops then you probably will here. Leafy and herbal as well, with perhaps a hint of lemon. Hops dominate here, with a bit of bready malt in the periphery.
T - Taste has more sugary malts and less overt hop flavor. There's some definite herbaceous bitters in the finish, and perhaps a bit of lemon and citrus rind lingering into the aftertaste. This is about a month old, so I'm sure it's mellowed a bit, but it's definitely balanced flavor-wise at this point. A tad astringent as it warms.
M - Smooth, medium-full body. Surprising heft for a 'single' IPA. Smooth texture, pleasant lower carbonation. Dry finish, no obvious heat.
D - I liked Queen's Ranger a fair bit more. This seems to have too much bittering and not enough hop flavor. Still, probably the best IPA brewed in London! Would like to see Forked River make some other IPAs with different hop varietals.

500 mL bottle picked up at the brewery, served slightly chilled. This season's batch is listed at an even 7.0%.
Pours a deep, clouded amber-orange hue, generating one finger of soapy, sparkling white head. It fades steadily over the next couple of minutes, soon being reduced to a bubbly cap and wide, foamy collar. There's a nice curtain of delicate lace, too; it certainly looks enticing enough. The aroma features a backdrop of bready, lightly toasted malts and toffee sweetness, with the Simcoe hops allowed to run roughshod over it all. I am getting a lot of piney, earthy character, with notes of apricot and clementine. Not terribly aromatic for the style.
This IPA features a sturdy backbone of toasted, bready/biscuity malts and a restrained caramel sweetness, with an onslaught of Simcoe hops following in tow. The latter half of the sip is intensely piney, with a pronounced earthy bitterness that does not let up. Fruity flavours of apricot offer a brief interlude, but it's just earthy, resiny, piney bitterness from that point on, with these facets taking more than a few moments to fade from the palate after each sip. Drinks like a 7% beer, in that the alcohol is on the fringe of detectability. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation levels that result in a smooth, slick, persistent mouthfeel. Not exactly refreshing, or memorable for that matter, but it's enjoyable enough for what it is.
Final Grade: 3.67, a serviceable B grade. Lord Simcoe's Revenge is classified by the brewers as a West Coast IPA - which is technically true, but it's still very much a one-note example of such. If you don't like IPAs that strongly play up the piney, earthy flavours of this hop variety, you will not likely be impressed with this offering. Myself, I don't mind it - I bought two bottles while visiting the brewery, and plan to enjoy the second one sometime soon. Worth a tick for sure, and something I'd probably pick up occasionally if it were sold locally - but if you're looking for something boundary-pushing or complex, you'll want to check elsewhere.

500ml bottle from brewery into a pint glass.
Hazy, slightly tawny orange, half a finger of head quickly diminishing to a thin foam cap. Not a lot of visible carbonation.
Aroma is mainly stonefruit, which I would have pegged as Southern Hemisphere hops, but apparently Simcoe can smell that way, too. There's not a huge hop aroma for an IPA. Their blonde actually has a much bigger aroma. Then again, this is a seasonal and the season's over, so it may have faded in the bottle a bit.
Simcoe hops come through piney and resiny on the palate, fairly dominating the taste from start to finish, with big mouth-puckering bitterness and only the subtlest clean malt flavours balancing. The vegetal, even "oniony" character of the hops is noticeable. Really, your opinion of this one is going to come down to how you feel about major Simcoe flavor in an aggressively bitter beer. Probably not for everyone, but recognizably achieving its objective.
Fairly light mouthfeel, though thick enough to avoid being called "watery", and lowish carbonation.
Overall, this is more or less a Simcoe hop delivery system. It's not my first choice for an IPA, but there are no real flaws; Forked River achieved what they set out to do.

Picked up the second batch or this IPA today. I had it earlier in August and wanted to get another taste.
Pours a beautiful amber colour and maintains great clarity. Definitely filtered.
Smells piny and estery and quite hop forward. It's got a smooth mouthfeel going down. You definitely taste the pine and hops right away, which holds on for bit with a relatively bitter aftertaste that I quite enjoyed.
Overall for 7.5% you really don't taste the booze and it's a great take on the style. Personally it's my favourite beer they've produced so far. Definitely recommend it.

Appearance: It has a nice hazy deep golden/orange color to it. It has a nice off-white head that dies down moderately and leaves some nice lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of piney and grassy hops, some citrus, sweet caramel and some bready/toasty malts.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has some definite resiny pine, a grassy/earthy bitterness, faint caramel and some sweet bready/toasty malts.
Mouthfeel: It has a low/medium carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas.
