Dark Dream Imperial Cherry Stout

Poured from a growler into a tulip glass. Survived the trip back to the Midwest from the brewery surprisingly well. Color is a deep brown; only a small amount of head, but that's likely due to the 10-day gap between pouring it in the growler and drinking (the pint I had in the taproom was much higher). Smell is surprisingly dry and crisp, which made me think of an Irish-style stout. The taste is much different, though - way sweeter, with a tang of cherry tart, than I would have guessed from the smell. The strong flavors are incredibly well-balanced, though - it's complex and rich without being overwhelming after a couple sips. Outstanding example of imperial stout.
