Nice cayenne pepper bite. Warms the mouth and throughout the throat, but not overwhelming at all. Good cocoa flavor and again not too much to be overwhelming.

From a bomber, pours black but not motor-oil black. A very slight brown cast on this otherwise midnight brew. I poured carefully and there's no head beyond an attempt along the edges, a line of khakhi micro-bubbles.
Aroma is a light dark fruit and malt, no cayenne to speak of. A bit underwhelming. Taste is a porter with more malt than expected, chocolate, slight tobacco but no fruit juice, and now suddenly a nice rather immediate heat from cayenne. Not vegetal at all, simply spice that's present without being too hot. Hits the back of the throat. Bit of anise, not getting any pomegranate or juice aspects. Malt sweet, not that pomegranate to be honest. "Stout" qualities are very much here, all in balance, possibly the pom is keeping a lid on any roast or malt. But no citrus (is pomegranate a citrus?) to speak of.
Having said that, it's got a nice mouthfeel, minimal carb. An enjoyable sipper. Slight hopiness in the finish, bit of ginger, but the takeaway is really the 2-alarm spiciness that seems to be overpowering any nuance and preventing anything else from coming through very much at all.
10.8% present very well hidden. Possibly part of the "hotness" is actually alcohol burn? I'd say that's part of it. As this warms the dark fruit (plummy) emerges.
Not bad, really, and more "spiced" beer than a "chili beer." You get me? Worth a look if you like it a little hot.
