It was poured from a growler into a snifter.
Pours a nice deep brown color with a little bit of pale tan head that fades quickly leaving a thin ring around the glass.
The smell has a lot of sour tartness to it which wasn't expected. Gives me the impression that this beer is most likely infected which is a bummer because I was really hoping for a nice smooth caramel, chocolate and pecan turtle candy.
The taste reveals that this is in fact infected which is a major disappointment. It starts off with a good amount of sharp sourness and has a little bit of what I imagine the beer was intended to be. It is almost an interesting take on a sour porter but that's not what it was intended to be.
Mouthfeel has a good amount of carbonation. This mouthfeel for the style but I think that might have something to do with it being infected.
Overall an infected mess of what it was intended to be. On the other hand, it is a great sour porter with some hints of what the beer should be.
Disappointed in it being infected but it is drinkable.

Thanks, or no thanks, to rudzud for sharing.
Pours a nice creamy think fluffy 1 finger head fades slowly with nice soapy thick lacing, just about pitch black color.
Nose brings nice nutty aromas, little peanut butter like, some caramel, candy like, little toasted nut, very faint cheap milk choc,
Taste brings a weird mixed nut juice like fermented, like various nuts blended into a liquid and fermented, little booze note, touch of dirty cocoa dust mixed with soil, little watery caramel and watery malt, fair mild sweetness, fake choc thing, fake bland malt thing. Starting to get a weird souring malt note.
Mouth syrupy but watery and med to lighter bod, decent but lighter carb, hint booze too.
Overall ick, probably THE worst funky Buddha beer I've ever had.

Split with JLindros, poured into a Kate the Great tulip.
A - Poured a nice dark brown with a good one finger light mocha head that fades to leave a nice thin creamy blanket and light lacing.
S - Aromas of Nice caramel and genetic nutty aromas. Not really any chocolate though which is shocking. Does not really smell like the confection.
T - Taste is massively underwhelming. Super light fake chocolate, watery genetic nuts, malt sweetness, watery caramel. ReallyReally bland. Just shocking how mediocre this beer is. Flavour is very weak and bland.
M - Mouthfeel is thin and watery yet somehow syrupy...ugh.
O - Overall this beer was incredibly underwhelming, borderline awful/drainpour due to how watery and bland it is. Next to no redeeming qualities. Didn't even remotely taste like a turtle...if this beer wasn't for charity I'd be furious! I'm still unhappy.
