I'm a big local fan of Funky Buddha but not so much their flagship IPA Hop Gun. So, when their pineapple version first came out I was happy to taste that the pineapple really worked well with the hops much improving the overall taste. Since then I've had PHG and I'm sorry to say it's somewhat inconsistent. I write this as I'm drinking it at the brewery and notice that the smell and taste are very light on the pineapple and it definitely has some unnatural flavor. I pick up a small bit of sterilizer or cleaner that definitely detracts from the overall flavor. I had the same problem with some Last Snow on tap. I drink these beers enough to know when they are off and my only guess is that either the same person isn't making them or the quality/recipe control needs to be strengthened.
