12oz bottle poured into a tulip
A- pours a deep amber color with a whole glass of floaties swimming around, one-finger foamy white head reduces to a film on top
S- aroma is predominately tequila and agave, with undertones of lime peel,
T- initial taste is super salty, with a hit of tequila and sweet agave. Mid-palate gives some tart notes of lime and a hint of toasted wheat. The finish gives more tequila and sweet agave, with a salty linger
M- medium-heavy body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns slightly creamy into a warming finish
O- It has potential, but it's so salty. Compared to a Mas Agave, this one just doesn't compare

A nice golden amber color, unfortunately, filled with sediment and topped off by a thin and quickly diffusing head.
The smell is my favorite part, though a notch sweeter than my ideal; sour lime upfront with background characters of agave and honey (I can also smell the barrel's effect).
Hits with a sharp note of lime and alcohol that subdues to a more mellow, still not complex, lime and agave flavor.
The feel does not spread well on my palette, the back of the tongue and mouth feel bombarded by the sharpness of the lime and alcohol.
The beer's strengths do not lie in a field that heavily concerns me, which is how the drink goes down. My first from Funky Buddha and I'm not a big fan.

Ahh a gose style, probably one of the most complex ales we have tasted in some time, burnt out on dry hop offerings and fancy labels/hype ....some real brewer craftsmanship here, like once in a lifetime type 'hits' when you homebrew..

Terrible beer. I'm not sure what they were thinking besides hopping on the tequila barrel band wagon. This stuff is garbage. I get virtually no margarita flavor from this, and it finishes more like malt liquor. I have been burnt by funky buddha too many times after this one. I would not reccomend this beer to anyone. Founder's Mas Agave is 1% less ABV, and much much much better than this hooch.

A: This was not a particularly good pour, and generally speaking, I'm pretty easy to please. The color is nice, a glowing amber, though there is a great deal of sediment and funkiness going on. The head forms very fizzy and recedes to nothing within a minute.
S: The smell is pleasant, though largely just lime--it does have the scent reminiscent of margaritas in many Mexican restaurants--a good dose of lime. After opening up for a little while, a hefty honey-like sweetness comes through.
T: The flavour is not terrible, though it is verging on being cloyingly sweet. A bit of alcohol astringency comes out on the finish, though it's not overpowering. The complexities of the lime and saltiness are quite subdued when compared to the sweetness.
M + O: The mouthfeel is heavier than I might have hoped, having a pretty full feel. The carbonation is moderate, though not surprising given the alcohol content. This is a very cool concept--one that, in my own opinion, could have gone over much better if everything was a bit lighter.

Picked on sale for 12.99 per 4 pack. Popping the top I get a fruity biscuit smell. Pours too a deep gold with a beige small bubble head. Taste is very thick on the mouthfeel up front with a tart and sour middle and a lightly bitter finish. At 11% it packs a wallop. Like most beers by Funky Buddha this beer is indeed “funky” and not in a good way. Have not had much luck with them.

It took adding something to a gose for me to really like this style...
From a purist point-of-view this gose is just a gimmick. However, looking at it at face value, I really like it. This is one of those beers, IMHO, that breaks the mold. Something like this simply is to be enjoyed for what it is. And in the case of this particular offering I’m just inclined to overlook the differences and embrace them instead.

It's a very solid Gose. However, the agave from the Casa Noble barrels and high ABV overpower the palate, leaving little flavor of actual margarita. Opinions would be different had the word "Margarita" not been used in the name of the beer.
