Appearance: Arrives coal black with a thin cap of mocha foam; a few strands of lacing linger
Smell: Roasty, with licorice, Bourbon and Cabernet tones
Taste: Toasted black bread, up front; vinous red wine tones build through the middle, with the Bourbon adding a subtle undertone, after the swallow; the finish has a powerful vinous character
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation; somewhat boozy
Overall: My first experience with a double barrel beer; very interesting interplay between the Cabernet and Bourbon treatment
