insanely weird ale here, a cherry strong, in barrels, from shorts, and some sort of culinary herb ancient gruit ale from funky, good but not great, but i do think they got the blend right. not too much of this or that, and i wish i knew a little more what the yarrow does for this, i keep looking for it, thinking about it, but its not really coming to me. other than that, its there, plenty of tart and sweet cherries alike. the rosemary has a truth to it, a real honest expression, oily and piney and autumnal and bold and also fresh, but not too much, and not overtaking, which might be its best attribute. there is some sweetness here, and definitely some booze. its not so bourbon forward, i get the wood, but instead of charcoal and vanilla, i get some red wine fruitiness (blame the cherries), and a general tannic complexon that really works but may or may not be intentional. more whiskey in nose than taste, super cool with the rosemary. there is no way this is a 50/50 blend either, i put the funky gruit way ahead of the cherry strong. some yeast character remains as well. fun one to drink on at the funky buddha taproom, we had a blast here, and among a ton of weird flavored beers, this stood out as memorable, for better or worse.

Pours a dark mahogany red with some chill haze, but other than that very clear with minimal carbonation and obvious legs.
Strong aroma of sour cherries, a bit of oak and vanilla barrel character, and some herbal like aromas. Some slight bourbon character, but translates mainly to oaky and spice notes.
Cherry comes out in flavor as well, but other dark fruit notes are apparent as well, a bit of vanilla, herbal/spice notes, and some sweet bourbon.
Full-bodied, low carbonation, slick, oily, hot.
Overall, I love these two breweries, but this one is a bit too hot fresh and needs some time to mellow out, but overall tasty.

I am not to familiar with the Gruit Style. This is my first one really. But we all gotta start some where.
The color is maroon with little to no head.. Smell of cherries, and vanilla. The taste is the same. Kinda like red wine and bourbon put together. It has a light mouth feel. Overall, this is different. The flavors are good, but it would benefit from some aging. But I wish they would bottle this one.( Go it on the tap room)

On draught at FBB's 3 Years and Brewing Festival 6oz pour. Plum color with decent head and lacing in a plastic cup with aggressive bubble streams. Smells of fruit juice and bourbon, and taste similar with dark fruits and raisins. Medium bubbly mouthfeel. Very interesting beer and worth a try.
