22oz bottle poured into a tulip

A- pours brown in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that reduces to a ring around the glass

S- aroma is spot on, french toast in a glass. equal bold parts of maple syrup and cinnamon lay the framework, with notes of toasted brown bread, even a buttery note, as well as powdered sugar. A hint of oaky bourbon rounds it out

T- heavy cinnamon up front is quickly followed by a sweet blast of maple syrup. Mid-palate gives some nutty brown malts that adds flavors of bread crust and a hint of walnut. The finish gives a sugary sweetness, similar to a powdered sugar, along with a hint of oaky bourbon. Lingers of cinnamon and maple

M- medium body with moderate-low carbonation leads to.a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly foamy finish

O- aroma is spot on, flavor is a little cinnamon heavy but all of the elements are there, well done

Pours dark brown almost black. Thick creamy tan head. Smells maple syrup. Taste maple syrup sweet, cookie dough, vanilla, alcohol hit drys the finish. No hint of hops aroma, flavor or bitterness. Overall, big brown malty sweet ale with no hint of hops. It’s what’s for breakfast.

Thanks to Jarnet87 for sending this bottle! Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into an El Catador Barrel-Aged glass.

A: Well, up front - no "pfft" at all when the cap was removed. This may not be a good sign. Pours a nearly opaque dense brown - dark, but obviously brown rather than black-brown. No head formation, and minimal if any visible carbonation at all.

S: Amazing – maple syrup and big cinnamon, bready toasty malts. Nutmeg, lactose, and a creamy eggy bread in the glass becomes believable. All of this under the bourbon barrel with just a bit of oak tannins to dry it out. Superlative aroma.

T: Cinnamon, bourbon, and toasted bready malts. Vanilla and maple syrup. Nutmeg and oak dryness. It finishes with cinnamon and bourbon flavors that last.

M: Alcohol heat is apparent but stays modest. The mouthfeel seems a bit thin, but this is quite accentuated by the complete lack of carbonation in this bottle. Flat as water, not a hint of bubbles at all.

O: The smell is amazing, and the flavors are there. The carbonation issue kills this completely. I hope this is an isolated incident, but it ruined a very promising beer. Bummer. I’m more than happy to re-review if I ever have a chance to get another bottle.

Wow! Funky Buddha is just nailing it when it comes to getting spot on flavors into a beer. Bourbon, oak, maple, & cinnamon all melded together into a creamy brown ale! Just delicious!
