22oz bottle poured into a snifter
A- pours deep black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that eventually reduces to leave just a thin film on top
S- plenty of pepper on the nose, with a distinct green pepper aroma, followed by a hit of cinnamon. Undertones of vanilla bean and cocoa, as well as some woody bourbon to close it out. Every adjunct really pops out of the glass, impressive
T- cinnamon immediately pops through up front, quickly followed by a wave of heat from the pepper. Mid-palate gives flavors of chocolate, vanilla & wet oak. The finish continues with another hit of pepper heat, along with a green pepper skin note. The linger continues with the pepper heat
M- medium-light body with moderate carbonation leads to a slightly foamy mouthfeel and a warming, burning finish
O- aroma was amazing, the flavor had a bit more pepper heat than I prefer for the style (think Mexican Cake heat), but very solid overall

Appearance: Arrives fudge colored with a tan head; spotty lace
Smell: Chocolate, Bourbon, cinnamon and vanilla, with a piercing Habanero accent
Taste: Chocolate and cinnamon forward, with the Bourbon building, through the middle; the vanilla and oak tones emerge, with the swallow; after the liquid goes down, the Habanero explodes back up the gullet and dominates the finish
Mouthfeel: Full bodied with moderate carbonation
Overall: The war of the adjuncts here; decent, but not balanced

I am usually not a big fan of cinnamon in my beer but this BA Stout really pulls it off as you get just a hint of cinnamon and it tastes great. The habanero is maybe a little much but that would be nitpicking.

I was worried after reading reviews of the base beer. This was absolutely fantastic. Not quite BA Mexican Cake level for me but sure was close.
