Nitro tap at the brewery. Served in a snifter.

Appearance - Black with a huge khaki head. Beautiful lacing and good retention.

Smell - Roasty malts. Coffee. A touch of lactose, I think.

Taste - Definitely tastes like lactose, but it's not overwhelming. Coffee. Nice toasted malt and a sweetness from the sugar.

Mouthfeel - Smooth (duh). Creamy and medium bodied. Maybe drops off just a bit in the finish.

Overall - I really like this. Simple and straightforward beer. No gimicks, but it's high quality

Served chilled into a pint glass. Nitro tap only at brewery.

Pours black with reddish brown highlights and half an inch foamy, dark tan head that slowly recedes leaving moderate surface layer and lacing.

Strong aroma of coffee with hints of chocolate and smoke.

Delicious flavor of espresso, cream, chocolate and just a hint of smoke.

As nice as the aroma and flavor of this beer are, the mouthfeel is where it really stands out. It is medium bodied with a sweet finish. And the nitro adds a wonderful creaminess to the body, which is outstanding. As it warmed, more of the bitter flavors from the coffee began to stand out.

Easily one of the better beers I've tried in a while. Highly recommended.
