The book is ALWAYS better, and so is the BOCK! Strong and rich, this German style Doppelbock has a pleasant malty aroma and distinct notes of toasted bread, caramel, and raisin. Slightly sweet but but finishes dry and crisp.

Bought two 16 ounce cans from Beer Drop. I, too, Liked the Movie... but the bock was not up to the Bavarian masters.
Yet Odysey's Bock is surprisingly good for a first release from a seven year old micro. And I should point out, it has one of the cuter names for a beer that I've heard in a while. Often I give my second can from Beer Drop to my handyman as payment, but as high praise and thinking about the potential of adding to the bock season ... I'm keeping this one. To improve, Odyssey's should be drunk next to a master so that Odyssey gets the subtleties of blending the malts.
Odyssey's Bock has a pretty ruby-ish tinge to this dark amber, but the fast-fading foam tells me the yeast needs to stimulate more protein. Smells are dark malt yearning to become a raisins/figs/plums medley, but the yeast won't prompt them to mature. Tastes are balanced; only in the finish does this 8.6 ABV announce itself a bit amateurishly. Medium-mouthed; but certainly not rich. You can improve next year's rendition with a more active yeast ... and maybe drop the ABV a notch.
As for my micro-review of Odyssey, they seem to use a common business plan that has invaded the Denver metro. Homebrewers want to share their hobby more as a business... so open a taproom and the other beer lovers will come. Fortunately, the Denver metro has enough drinkers to support what is one of North America's up 'n coming beer cultures (and perhaps in the Top 5.)
3/18/22. Had the second can, but didn't do a side-by-side with a master. So my suggestion remains: think of melding the malts. I will Like The Movie next year... but also will probably have to get it thru Beer Drop. Counting @ UnTappd.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
