An unexpected find in M&S Oxford Street today. It looks rather suspect but I thought well why not... you never know.
L- Vivid pink. Clear, pours with 3mm white head. [15mins later, holds well].
S- Floral.
T- On my first sip of beer today I involuntarily shudder, I think it was the dry/carbonated rise into the finish. Before that the taste is very light, I just get a perfumey/floral note. Apart from decent hoppy dryness into the finish there isn't anything else beer-like about this one. It's a very curious thing.
F- Carbonation in the mouth (and glass) is good. Ignoring the taste completely it feels like a light and notably dryer lager.
O- I really wonder who this is pitched at. Thought I'd a slim chance of palming this off on my wife. First sip [eyes flaring] 'I'm not drinking that! I like Belgian Tripels!". We considered who might drink this beer. I imagine it's aimed at women... who don't want beer-like beer? And for whom being vivid pink is a bonus?? I really don't know... still, interesting to try I suppose. ... One of those beers that's very hard to rate as... it all feels rather brutal...
660ml bottle (666ml might have been more appropriate) which suggests to me this is an occasion beer. £2.60 BB: 05/2021. Pitched at Valentine's?
ps. I added this as a Fruit&Field beer due to it's ingredients which include: hibiscus flowers, blackcurrant and black carrot extract and sugar.
