Had a pint of "Cream Ale Nitro" at Crescent and Vine, Astoria, NY. It didn't say "Rockaway," bu they had Rockaway Cream Ale Nitro listed on beermenues, so this must be the one.
A - Looks as one should expect a Cream Ale. Light brown to Tan with a nice 'creamy' opaqueness.
S - Light smell of cream soda perhaps...
T - Wow, this is just like a beer version of a cream soda. It has a light sweetness that is not cloying or annoying at all, and it has a kind of spicing to it that lends to the overall flavor very well... No hops or bitterness perceived. Very smooth and... creamy.
M - Medium body but extremely easy to drink, alcohol is relatively well hidden, though you start to feel that 6.3% coming through after a few sips....
O - I haven't tried many cream ales, but this is great. I'd be happy to drink this again any day. Very smooth, refreshing and easy to drink, while packing a large creamy, malty flavor. Can definitely be paired with food since it goes down so easily... but it might fill you up quicky....Anyway, great beer.
