Realerevival Brewing "Groove City Hefeweizen"
12 fl. oz. can, "CANNED 12/22/25" and sampled on 05/06/26
$2.29 @Total Wine & More, Claymont, DE
Notes via stream of consciousness: A hazy, but not cloudy, golden body is capped by a short head of bright white foam that drops rather quickly. There's some banana and clove in the aroma along with some grainy malt. The taste follows with some clear wheat flavor, and a additional apple as well as a hint of citrus. It's sweetish but far from sweet, although there's not a lot of bitterness to it. In the mouth it's light-medium in body and gently crisp. I generally expect a higher carbonation from a hefeweizen but this one is light. In fact, everything about it seems light. The body is light, the carbonation is light, and the flavor is light. It's a decent enough beer on its own but in terms of being a "hefeweizen" it kind of misses the mark. That's not to say that I haven't had lighter weißbiere in Germany, because they are popular in summer, but I think they all had more flavor. I don't know, I'm on the fence on this one. The lack of head retention and lacing kills it's appearance but otherwise it's nice.

Local maryland drink, Tastes a little dark for a hefeweizen, closer to an ale, maybe thats what the brewer was going for. Definately more flavor than your average beer.

Pouring it straight up yields a nice foamy head and decent lacing while it goes down. Nice malty wheat and Hefe yeast aromas as well. The classic flavors of banana and clove & nutmeg are all there, hints of marshmallow, circus peanuts and bubble gum. A slight flavor reminiscent of bactine as well. Hints of mild citrus flavor left on the tongue leaves you wanting another sip.
The brewmaster’s choice of yeast and amount of hops are spot-on for the style.
I’ve also had this on draught at the brewery, a real treat, especially on a warm summer day!

Canned 3/24/23; drank 6/18/23 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque orange appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice off-white head; strong lacing remained.
Banana, mild clove & faint banana peel notes in the nose.
Soft, medium mouthfeel.
Banana, mild clove & faint orange peel flavors; soft wheat notes on the finish.
An above average Hefe, for sure!

Well rounded Hefeweizen... Hits all the expected classes notes and executes them exceedingly well... Easy to drink a few of these in a session...

I first tasted this beer on tap in Cambridge, MD and it was delicious. I continue to get it on a semi-regular basis because I enjoy wheat ales and RAR.
Today I took time for a proper review.
After pouring it from a can into a tulip glass, the look is nothing exceptional for an unfiltered ale but the aroma really brings the banana, clove, and yeast for me. The taste is similar — I get bread, banana, and some citrus. It has a medium mouth feel. Overall, it’s a very good beer but something keeps it from being truly great. It’s definitely something I enjoy when it’s hot and humid out.

Good beer, but the recipe needs to be tweaked.
1F head with a golden color in a Brooklyn Hefe glass. 1F is too small. Usually Hefeweizen heads are 4+.
Aroma is good. Spice, clove, not intense.
Body is too thin. There needs to be more carbonation.
Taste is good, not fully developed. Spice, clove.
It’s a good Hefe, but certainly not the best. Recipe tweaks: carbonation, body, head, and more spice in the aroma/taste.
