there may be multiple versions of this, im not sure, but this was a watermelon gose when we scored a four pack this weekend, my first from these guys even though i have heard lots of good things, cool to finally get to try something. i think my wife and i both had a little bit higher hopes for the beer overall though, its at once almost underflavored and without the parts of the watermelon i was hoping for, its sweet and a little more filling than it needs to be too, although the beer is quite well refined in terms of it being clean from the can, without any real sediment or any of the gunk so many of these have, and i think the high amount of salt in it is really flattering, but this should and could be way more refreshing and drinkable than it is. slightly tinted pink, a little orange tone from the grain, and a light haze without looking cloudy or dense, fizzy too but not holding much head after the initial pour settles down. the nose is cool, watermelon candy more than actual fruit, but its juicy, easily identifiable, and nicely enhanced by the salt. the sourness is middle of the road but very clean, faint lemon to it, a good pucker to offset the unnecessary sugar, and less character flavor overall than it looks like its going to have. the salt is there all the way in the flavor, drying, and needed, lightly herbal somehow, a hint of coriander maybe, brings up some wheat too but the grain is not a big factor in this. notes of cherry candy, the watermelon, pomegranate, and a lot of sugar, which totally makes me be close to over this one before i am through the can it just sits on the teeth, has a lot of body too because of it, and the linger of the watermelon is a touch unnatural as a result, a shame because the flavor is good. light lime in the acidity, lactic and pretty tidy, just wish they fermented this one down a little longer, the salt and minerals are cool, but it seems a tad cheap just because of the sweetness. cool can art, fun beer, but kind of a novelty item instead of a warm weather refresher. some rind bitterness would be really cool for balance and authenticity...

Moderately tart with a subtle watermelon flavor that is mostly overshadowed by a surprisingly funky flavor. Hops are present and complementary with some citrus notes.
