Not sure about the “Retired” status, I picked this one up at the brewery not too long ago.
My wife used one in a dark beer-bread recipe she baked, it was delicious.
A pint can poured into a pint beer glass. The dark tan head was thin, dissipated quickly. Without a doubt, the darkest beer I’ve ever had.
Enjoying this one on my front porch. Holding the glass up to the sun, no light gets through, not even at the edges.
Taste is of heavily roasted and caramelized barley malt. Vanilla, caramel, toffee, molasses, coffee, chocolate all come to mind while sipping this one.
Perhaps even a hint of bourbon on the tongue. It must be from the 12.5% ABV, which is fairly well masked i might add.
Most Imperial Stouts are too sweet, almost cloying. This one has a pleasant sweetness well balanced with the savory toasted flavors and bitterness.
Hopefully they’ll brew it again. It would be a good holiday seasonal if they changed the name, LOL.

Had on tap at RAR ; then a 4 pack at home.
Huge Imp stout. Delicious and smooth sipper. Cacao nibs and big stout base are rich and full flavor. Super velvety. Overall a great Imp Stout.
