Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 11/21/23; brewed with Mosaic and Elani hops.
Appearance: murky darkish-yellow hue with a thick finger of pillowy ivory foam atop.
Smell: sweet malt with a nice citrusy element, but man, the booze just wafts off this thing. Hmm, on further evaluation that could be a tropical hop element mixing with the booze as well; it’s definitely strong, whatever it is.
Taste: again, pretty sweet, with a decent citrusy character and a little bit of those danker tropical flavors. However, it is super boozy, and there’s an almost acetone-like quality I feel like I’m getting off it. That probably paints this in a worse light than it is, but still, I think this beer might have been a lot better at 7 or 8 percent than at 10.6.
Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a good carbonation and a really smooth creaminess. All that malt/booze/body is good for something!
Overall: this is not super high on the “drinkability” index, for sure, but it does have some things going for it. Fans of huge beers may get more out of this one than I do.
