What this beer has going for it: cool purple slushy appearance, an open mind to something new. What this beer fails to do well: smell is unbalanced with hops being way too bitter for the fruits, taste even more so and has booze leakage, feel is far too dry for a slushy, general combination of styles is misguided, finish especially is bitter, bland, and heavy. Fruits are there for a split second before being lost to the muddling. Undrinkable, drain pour

Pours a very cloudy purple color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is mild as is lacing. There is some thicker lacing on the sides of the glass like a slushie. Bigger strawberry aroma with a hint of pineapple. Odd tasting for sure. It starts has the strawberry slushie taste with a more bitter hop and bitter aftertaste like an IPA. Medium to heavy bodied with mild to moderate carbonation.

Not knowing what to think about this radical rendition in a novel style, I browsed Tavour members' ratings and they range all over the place. But basically, I warmed to this Encore Slushy; thinking it is a genuine piece of work, probably even has more love in it than I know.
Looks start below average as I am a big fan of the NEIPA's foam. But Smells say "drink me, I'm refreshing." And it is as advertised, a slushy with malt. Pretty full in the mouth, chewy.
I also want to give 903 some good OA credit for pushing the envelope. Their lineup does not rely on pandering to the heavy-hopped American palate. Their most rated offerings on BA are a range of creative darks and only a few AIPAs (of which many, I speculate, are NEIPAs.) This is a Mom n' Pop shop serving a northern Texas community and I hope I have contributed at least a little to their continuing success.
