Panache is one thing this beer is missing.

A dull and tepid attempt, this beer is exceptionally grainy and packs any other flavors worth speaking of.

I would rate this a hard miss.

Rusty, hazy under a short-lived moderate head. Rather ordinary looking, but saved by how much lace it lays down. Very distinctive orange flavour that ends with gentle pithiness. Sweet gentle malt underlays it all. Soft bitter finish. This brew kind of surprised me. It's subtle, but quite tasty. Interesting. Worth a try fir how it tastes.

Hazy golden color with frothy white head. Aroma has some tea like hops and fermented citrus fruits. Taste has generic hops, citrus and a light resiny bitterness on the finish. Medium body with low bitterness. Overall it's a decent session IPA.

Golden with only a hint of haze, lots of carbonation, and two fingers of white head.

Smells of pine, pineapple, and a hint of dankness.

Tastes of pine and pineapple, and a hint of dankness.

Very light and crisp feel, with a hint of resin covering the tongue on the end. Moderate carbonation.

Got in Ontario, drinking in Muskoka, Nov 27th, 2017. Excellent session ale with a sweet can to remind you of cottage country.

Tallboy can from the LCBO; coded J2417 which is probably a canning date of Sept 24 2017. Served slightly chilled.

Pours a foggy lemondrop yellow colour, with 1 cm of loose foam that gathers at the surface before fading away within a few minutes. Some webby lace is left behind, in addition to a frothy collar and a patchy, soapy cap. Smells of lemon pith, mandarin orange, passion fruit and nectarine. A touch earthy and piney, but not what I'd call resiny on the nose - mostly just fruity and very appealing.

A light-flavoured beer, which isn't at all surprising for something currently billed as a session IPA. It does have a slight note of gritty, grainy pale malt in the background, but the hops are certainly the more relevant ingredient as far as the flavour profile is concerned. Hints of stone fruit accent citrusy flavours of orange, lemon and lime peel, with a lightly bitter tail end that features an earthy, green pine needle character that preludes an odd finish - seems dry at first, but there's also a faint butterscotch note that doesn't linger long. Diacetyl maybe? It's light in body, with middling carbonation levels that offer a decent bite - crisp, smooth, and very easy to knock back.

Final Grade: 3.86, a B+. Panache Session IPA isn't anything too fancy, but it got the job done for me. There are a few Ontario-made session IPAs that I'd pick over this one, but I could probably count them all on one hand. The aroma was the highlight for me, although the combination of fruity, citrusy flavours with an earthy, bitter back end is a tried and true combo that also works out well. This is more than likely my favourite Stack beer to date, by a modest but significant margin - if you can find a reasonably fresh sample, give it a try.

473ml can served cold into a beer mug. Purchased for about $3.20 CDN. Appears that this brew is back on the shelves.

Appearance - mostly hazy pale golden color with a small frothy head. Good retention and some lacing with lots of bubbles throughout the glass.

Smell - leafy and grassy hops up front with a hint of papaya and pineapple. Good aromatics.

Taste - middling and thin bitterness, some leafy hops, hints of melon and papaya, but moderately bitter is the prevailing flavor. Don't really get the peach until the end of the can. Some malt present to keep things balanced.

Mouthfeel - medium light, carbonation is slightly low and easy drinking. Very crushable.

Overall - Panache has well, a little panache, with a nice easy drinking feel, plenty of hops, some tropical fruits mixed in and enough balance to make this a repeatable purchase. Pretty good for what it is.
