375 mL bottle. Pours deep brown with a reddish tint and a bit khaki head. Murk starts pouring in pretty early. Smells of acidic yeast, cherry, a little roast, banana, a hint of plastic. Tastes sharp up front with cherry and roasted malt. Yeasty notes throughout. Clove and spicy. Always a little acidic. Dries out quickly and flavor drops off. Medium body with high carbonation. It's sharp throughout. Yeast dominates it. The malts aren't prominent enough to balance it.

L-Pours a beautiful two finger headed stout with a nice color. Very dark with a slight red in the mis in color with nice natural carbonation. Looks beautiful.
S- Phenolic sourness, pickle, roasted malt, cherry wine cherry, dark stone fruit, caramel apple, chocolate and a boozy buzz.
T- Follows the nose with a nice sour bite. Sweet cherry wine, cherry, chocolate malt, and dark stone fruit with a fresh finish.
F- Very dry and crisp finish. Nice
O- Very interesting and very nice spin on the style. I enjoyed it a lot, although it wasn't what I was expecting at all. With that said, it's really important to note that it really wasn't a good representation of a stout.

From a corked bottle, this brew is dark brown with a cream colored head. The aroma is complex...wild funk, a little fruit, a bit of roast, and lots more. The taste is tart...very tart, but not quite sour. The flavor is interesting. I think that I do get cherries...cherry skins?...and a little roasted grain. Dry and tart through the finish. Interesting, but it could have been better with a little residual sweetness and body.

Very sour flavor profile. No characteristics of a stout at all. Devoid of any toasted malt flavor. Overpriced.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark brown color and an opaque consistency. There was a half inch, off white, foamy head that lasted an average amount of time. Not much lacing here.
S: A decent aroma of cherries, malt, and some oak as well.
T: Tasted of a moderate amount of roasted malt, oak (not as much as I thought), a good shot of cherries (more than any other ingredient), and a bit of yeast in the finish. For the most part, this is a solid flavor, but not as aggressive as I would have thought. Still, pretty tasty.
F: A good amount of carbonation with a lively finish. Medium-bodied.
O: This beer has its flaws, but it's still drinkable. Worth a try.

Pours a cloudy dark brown color. 1/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Good retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, alcohol, hint of roasted malt, wood, dark fruit, smoke, and a hint of hop. Fits the style of an American Stout. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp with a high carbonation level. Tastes of smoke, sweet malt, hint of roasted malt, hint of pale malt, wood, yeast, slight hop, and a dark fruit. Overall, good body and complexity, too carbonated, the smoke is well done, but the blend and aroma are lacking.

i had really high hopes for this, one of the first dark beers i have seen from these guys, with just the seiest packaging you could imagine, at least for what i am in to, and it looks so good in the bottle, but this was the first let down from these guys yet, not a bad beer, but an order of magnitude short of expectations for me. it pours dark enough as i am pouring it to conceal all the sediment, but when i pull back and look, its nuclear, like, fish food and just tons and tons of chunky yeast. i dont mind it in their saisons, and in the large format stuff generally, but in a small bottle of a theoretically non yeast forward beer, this is excessive, and matter of fact, i feel like its almost wasteful. aroma of red wine, real dark cherries, some sweetness, a roasty but lighter dark chocolate malt profile, and some yeasty almost vinegary even wildness, which i do not immediately find flattering. the flavor is cool because of the cherries. a lot of cherry dark beers are sweet, but this one isnt, instead focusing on the fresh dark fruit and the charred roast element in the grain, that balance and synergy makes this good. the yeast being all over it though seems sloppy, is this supposed to be wild beer? it almost tastes flanders reddish, tannic and sharp to be kind, downright acidic at worst, never really sour just sort of off. the cherry though is amazing, and even though this ends up being a lighter and in the end super weird stout, i like the beer for the cherries and the malt together. full of holes though, and my first real let down from one of my new favorite breweries. i will try another bottle, this does not dissuade my stoke very much, i wanted to rave about this one, love it passionately, but you could skip this one and be alright...

A: Pours a clear but opaque extremely dark chestnut brown, almost jet black in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint mahogany colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense fizzy foamy tan head that reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of roasted malts, tart cherries, and slightly sweet cherries. Light to moderate aromas of slightly acidic yeast and hint of cocoa powder.
T: Upfront there is a just shy of moderate flavor of roasted malts with a light to moderate amount of cocoa powder and just a hint of dark fruit (cherry) sweetness. That is followed by a light amount of acidic tartness from the yeast and light to moderate flavors of tart cherries. Hints of oak woodiness and minimal amounts of bitterness which fades away quickly leaving a light lingering tartness.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Hints of acidic prickliness in the finish.
O: I don't always find the tart/wild/sour stouts to be successful but the addition of the cherries to this one make it work for me. Enjoyable, light bodied enough to be easy to drink with well hidden alcohol.
