This robust, hoppy stout is a hearty welcome on a brisk evening, but balanced and drinkable for enjoying year-round. In addition to a complex roasted malt character of coffee and dark chocolate, a hefty addition of American hops adds bright, distinct layers of tropical fruits, citrus and pine.

Poured stout black with a light brown head that left scant lacing.
The taste is actually better than many imperial stouts I’ve had; the roast, the coffee, the chocolate and worn leather. The depth of flavor is excellent.
The feel is definitely more than your average stout. Not quite viscous but not thin either.
OA, wish I had picked up more than one. Good beer.

Aroma is dark/roasted malts, chocolate/milk chocolate and smoky. The flavor is mild fruit/slight vegetal, chocolate/milk chocolate and a slightly smoky/big roasted malt/acidic finish.

Drank straight from a 16 oz can.
Classic american-style stout with a robust, fruity (not bitter) hop bite.
Deceptively smooth for 6.8%.

16 ounce can, dating is smudged but it was canned sometime in 2021. Thanks to Brutaltruth for this one! Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half frothy tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like roasted malt, piney hops, coffee, dark chocolate and dark fruit. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some citrus peel and dark bready flavors. Even with it being as old as it is, it's hoppier than I expected. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy and coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good stout, would like to try this one fresher but it's tasty aged too!

From the 16 oz can in a snifter. This excellent stout pours a dark black with
dark tea highlights and a nice head of brown foam that settles to a thick ring,
thin layer, and sports some nice lacing. Nose of dark coffee, char, dark bakers
chocolate, deep roasted malts, and grassy hops with a touch of citrus. Flavors
surpass the nose with dark bakers chocolate, deep roasted coffee, char, subtle
cream, deep roast, grassy, herbal, and subtle grapefruit hop notes. Nice mouth
feel; medium tilting towards medium full body, smooth, medium light carbonation
that is nicely effervescent, and a bitter malt and hop touched finish.

Of note, warmth gives rise to dark berry notes as well.

Overall-----a solid no frills American Stout!

Cheers

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque in the glass with a half finger dark khaki head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma of mild dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa and a touch of grassy hops. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a little char, robust coffee, bakers chocolate and mild grassy hops with a touch of grapefruit. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. An interesting take on a stout. To me the profile was more like a robust black/Cascadian ale, although the hops were not the typical ones for the NW version of that style. The malt is very similar to a black ale, and not as dense as most stouts, although there is a lot of toasted malt character and. The chocolate and coffee notes are quite stout oriented. I'm a fan of both stouts and the CDA styles and this one, which combines some character of each is very appealing. These guys are doing some interesting brewing here. Recommended for CDA and hopped stout fans.

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a finger and a half high tan colored head that has excellent retention properties and hardly died down and also left lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of dark and roasted malts are present in the nose along with hints of tropical fruit.
T: The taste has flavors of chocolate malts and coffee along with underlying notes of tropical fruit.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The underlying aromas and flavors of tropical fruits are a unique addition to this stout.

Picked this up recently at ShopRite in Little Falls, as I never heard of BFB before. Nice to see more brews in these parts from different areas of the country and this Stout was worth the time as it was quite easy to drink during a warmer month of the year such as this.

No doubt that this was going to pour dark as it was as close to black as brown could get with a ton of mocha head to top it off with quite a few big bubbles in the midst of the foam. Coffee, chocolate, and oats were in the muted nose as the head took forever to settle down but once it did, the aroma was quite mellow for a beer of this type. Dark cherry, dry orange, clean pine, and bitter chocolate came through in the nose as the mouthfeel was quite slick for something that was so dry in feel. Very little lacing was left behind as this was a thinner Stout that felt like a cross between coffee, espresso, and an IPA with plenty of bitterness and citrus slickness lingering on my palate long after this fully went down.

This felt a bit stronger than it was in actuality as it would have been quite easy to crack open another after finishing this off. It was nearly impossible to read the date on the bottom as it was off-center but this felt fresh and was enjoyable for feeling like something out of the left coast that was transported to Dixie and combined with darker malts. This was a fun beer that has me missing the Volunteer State and wondering when I'm going to get back down there again!
