Pours a clear, deep reddish-amber colour. Smells like caramel and bready malts, spicy, raisins/dates, fruitcake, and a very faint tart-ness. Tastes tart/sour throughout, fruity, chili-pepper/spicey, wood, slight caramel aftertaste. Very confusing beer... lots of flavours going on, but they mesh together well.

Appearance is a clear reddish amber with a weak white head. Smell is a combination of funk and bread that lies somewhere between rye and sourdough bread, suggesting that things should be acidic. Also has some musty wine-like characteristics.
Flavor is quite unexpected. Starts with a combination of toasted barley and lacto tang, followed by a bready sweetness and citrus fruityness. Also seems to have a slight skunky/smoky aspect, though there is nothing indicating such on the label or in previous reviews, so it may be a wild yeast strain or other addition that I am unfamiliar with.
Mouthfeel is fairly light for the abv., carb is moderate and slighty prickly, with a mildly drying finish.
Unique berlinerweiss/ur-bock hybrid. Worth trying for the experience.

L: Cherry tinted brown with a small tan foam collar that does not do much in the lace department.
S: Funk, dark malt, kettle sugars, dirty socks and over ripe fruit with a slight suggestion of wet diaper.
T: Funky sour over a big malt backbone with a definite bock character and hints of intense sour dough bread. The bready bock malts balance the sour.
F: Has a prickly champagne like mouthfeel with a bit more body.
O: This is a fairly intense, interesting sour take on a bock. I especially like the interplay of the rich malts with the lactobacillus.
