Beerbliotek “Saison”
500ml can coded "Best before end. See base. AUG2023 #LAB1555" and sampled on 30 November 2022
6€ @ L’Osteria della Birra, Roma, IT
Look: Hazy golden with an orange cast beneath a finger's width of white foam. Better than average head retention and even better lacing.
Smell: Grainy, mineralish, fruity, herbal, spicy, and subtly floral.
Taste: Lightly sweetish, grainy, and bready malt with orchard fruits (orange, apple, pear, peach, candied lemon) and a hint of spiciness (black peppercorn, clove) and dried herbs. It's firmly bitter and dry in the finish with bitterness, mineral, spiciness, and dried herbs lingering.
Feel: Medium-light in body and crisp with a fine-bubbled carbonation.
Overall: A quality saison that's refreshing and fairly complex.
