There's something about the beach that feeds your soul, keeps you young, and demands your return.
Of the millions who visit, a few are distracted by romantic visions of life at the beach and are left behind, never to return to the "real world." It's an existence unaffected by time or authority. Days and nights blend together, signaled by sunrises over the ocean and sunsets in the bay. Their hearts become gorged with rebellion and pride, inherent in all Americans but enjoyed by few. It is with the same celebration of freedom and togetherness that we have conceived this beer. We brew our beer in the salty air with our toes in the sand and the sun on our faces. Lucky for you, we can't finish it all. Please have as much fun drinking Backshore Beer as we have making it. We've spent serious time creating it. Have a ridiculous time enjoying it.

Visited the brewery which is located right on the boardwalk in Ocean City, MD in May 2019 (pre-COVID). A decent, albeit limited, selection but location is great for people watching and drinking moderately decent beer. Imagine it's super crowded during the summer.

Visited on a beautiful, warm, late fall afternoon which had an impact on the enjoyment. Small place and it was at capacity inside and out. You can it sit and watch the world go by with a boardwalk and ocean view in front of you. Staff behind the bar were friendly and efficient. Selection was not that large but the doppelboch they had on tap was super and the IPA was darn good too. Off season hours are limited, so check before heading over.

Stopped by on the first day of our OC break with my wife and son. Great location right on the boardwalk at 10th street. The service was very friendly but only five tap selections were available, which was a slight bummer. I had a wheat IPA called Bam, Pow Hops, which was solid and tasty in the summer heat. Food was very pub foodish, but that was what we wanted. For OC, this is better than average, but still not a place to get crazy about missing.

Bartender was pretty chill. Beers are not that good, however. Bartender didn't seem to know a whole lot about the beers themselves or didn't seem like he really wanted to talk about them. But, given the location (Boardwalk), he is probably just used to people coming to get a beer and get hammered, not people who actually enjoy talking beer.

The location is the only thing that makes this place worth stopping at, it's right on the boardwalk and has an outdoor seating area that is very cool. The service was bad, unfriendly waitress. The beer was OK, I've had much better. Over all is not a bad stop but I think there's much better places around to spend your time and money.

A small but nice spot on the Ocean City boardwalk. They offered about six of their own beers including an IPA, Brown and a Wit. We had the IPA and Brown Ale. Both were good and flavorful. I especially liked their mason jar style beer mugs. They have a small bar and a nice seating area in front where you can soak up the beachside atmosphere. Worth a visit.

Right on the OC boards at 10th street. Next to Hammerheads, which this BA had no idea even existed. More seating outside then in-perhaps 6 stools at the bar-very narow space overall. Cool tap setup using 3" galvanized screw pipe fittings. Old wooden planks line the walls.
Found the beers to be a notch above average. The Downtown Brown had a definate spice(cinnamon) flavor going on. Thought the Stout the most solid of the offerings. A decent Kolsch and a dunkleweizen going on as well.
Service was ok. Nice girl there at the bar was more then happy to engage us in conversation but never offered to get us a drink. I just figured she was a friend of the bartender. Once the bartender asked us what we were having she started moving around to set us up. Also they seemed to have a lot of fun running around in rubber pig and cow masks to laugh at each other and patrons. Ok call me old and crusty, I just dont see what the point is/was.
For just having opened they had a decent selection. The brown and Kolsch were the most popular. They had a few food selections though we did not try them. I want to think the kitchen is tied to Hammerheads next door as they share a common space and doorways.
Overall an ok place. Do not expect to be overwhelmed-it is the boardwalk in Ocean City. Some tweaking of the beers and it will be an ok stop for a pint or 3. Great location for sure-would be very cool if they could progress into a real beer destination.
