a very clean saison hopped with nelson sauvin, a great flavor profile if you like a saison that leans more clean and belgian than wild and rustic. slightly hazy pale orange color to this, and a tall white head in the tall stemmed glass its served in at the brewery, lots of bubbles, pretty beer. the nose is fruity from the yeast, white wine and pear notes, with the tropical fruitiness of the nelson, light passion fruit, fresh pineapple, tangerine, and lime, very zesty and bright and fresh and alive, and very little bitterness detectable despite it being obviously well hoppy. great flavor here, clean wheat malt, something a touch more substantial, and all the character and texture and flavor in the mash of a much more rustic and old school saison than this. the yeast is good, its belgian-esque and tidy, no funk or farmy elements at all, which i think would make this, i mean a mature brett profile would absolutely set this off, a little oak, oh man, but its not there. its not a negative, its just a different type of beer than that. i like the complexity the hops add, almost filling in for a more interesting yeast vibe here, fresh and fruity and so obviously nelson. excellent carbonation and overall drinkability too, i could have crushed a bunch of these if they didnt have so many interesting beers on their menu that demanded my attention! impressive beers in here, this is a really summery belgian ale, flavorful and very professionally done!
