Iron Sunrise marries the robust hoppiness of an IPA with the lush, easy drinking qualities of a lager. Featuring a collage of rare and unique hop varieties we sourced while brewing a collaboration beer in New Zealand and on a hop-hunting expedition to Yakima, this beer sports a poppin' aroma and a complex hop flavor layered atop a cracker dry lager body.

On-tap served in a stemmed glass at Mikkeller Bangkok.
Mildly hazed golden color, it tops with very thick silky white head that withstands with very good retention before slowly collapsing to a long-lasting bubble film atop and leaving numerous of sticky lacing wave all around.
Sweet bready, candy, and biscuity malt take the lead in the aroma, it is as well fruity and hoppy with notes of peach, apricot, tropical, and light citrus yet with lightly spice and floral.
Tasty, it is quite like the aroma with a domination of bready and biscuity malt taste that reminds me of Lager quality while hop at the same time provides notes of peach, apricot, tropical, and light citrus yet some spice.
Medium body, crisp and refreshing through the palate, the mouthfeel is smooth with a dry finish. This one is good and tasty IPL with good hop and malt profile.

Clear golden brew with a white foam that leaves lots of lacing in the Rodenbach goblet. Crisp and definitely lager-like. The label discloses the hop varieties: "Experimental Hop 06277" and "Wai-iti." Smooth and pleasant bready malt with a hint of honey and a resiny note.
Some light fruit flavors of pear and a hint of passion fruit. Finishes with modest but distinct bitterness. This is a tasty light brew that delivers a lovely hop fragrance along with the sharp, clean beery taste. But shockingly expensive at nine bucks for the 22 oz bottle. Purchased at Bine & Vine on Adams Ave.

Glass: Modern Times willybecher pint glass
From: Bine & Vine in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $8.19
Purchased: May 4, 2016
Consumed: May 15, 2016
Misc.: No BOD on bottle (released in April 2016)
A special release from when of my favorite breweries? Count me in. Have had a few IPLs but haven’t really thought any have been exceptional. In general I only think Modern Times’ IPAs are OK so not a lot of high hopes on this despite it being from Modern Times.
Poured a yellow, golden, clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky, white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass. Good uneven foamy lacing. Great retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled New Zealand hops, resin hops, tropical hops, hints of Galaxy, grapefruit zest, grassy notes, herbal hops, and a touch of green apple and green grape. (Smell - 3.50)
Taste followed the nose, almost more lager than IPA though. Got those unknown New Zealand hops, faint Galaxy, grassy hops, herbal hops, Waimea, honey, green grapes, faint tropical notes and crackers. (Taste - 3.50)
Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.50)
Nothing too special about this one. Would not try it again. (Overall - 3.50)

Poured from a bottle into a tulip glass
Looks like a Pilsner. Crystal clear, straw colored beer with a puffy white head which recedes quickly.
Aroma is subtle tropical fruit backed up with biscuits and crackers.
Taste is what you'd expect from the aroma. Tropical fruit is more pronounced and discernible on the palate than in the aroma. Pineapple, tangerine and lemon zest. A bit grassy also. Cracker malt.
Fairly light bodied as a result of the high level of carbonation. Dry, somewhat vinous finish is reminiscent of a good Kölsch. Crisp and easy drinking.
