This deeply juicy stunner in the mold of City of the Sun and Booming Rollers will be replacing Aurora in the seasonal line-up next year. While our beloved red rye IPA will undoubtedly be missed, we think you’ll agree with our decision once you get a face-full of this outrageously tasty IPA. Brewed with Denali, Ekuanot, Citra, and Centennial hops, Critical Band is a blast wave of pineapple, papaya, and pink grapefruit over a crisp, restrained malt bill, before wrapping up in a soft, round finish that leaves you with warm feelings and an intense desire for another sip.

Random selection at a restaurant in Del Mar. As expected, pretty standard NEIPA on the West Coast. Cloudy, smooth, big hop profile hidden by the thick feel. Has a unique pungent hop profile in the finish. Fresh citrus and quite drinkable.

Look: Pours a cloudy orange with a nice white, fluffy head with decent retention and lacing.
Smell: Nose is primarily pineapple, citrus, grapefruit.
Taste: More pineapple, citrus, grapefruit. Tropical, juicy melon.
Feel: Decent mouthfeel, medium body with good carbonation.
Overall: A very solid, though perhaps unremarkable NEIPA that will not disappoint anyone looking for a juicy, hazy 6.7% NEIPA that hits all the expected notes while perhaps also not being the most memorable.

Pours a very cloudy golden color with a thick foamy head. Head retention is excellent, as is lacing. Somewhat juicy citrus aroma. Tropical with grapefruit and pineapple. Decent juicy taste. Papaya dominates. Tropical. Medium bodied with mild to moderate carbonation.

16oz canned 8-6-20, opened 9-3-20.
2 finger slightly off white head with a small portion rising over the rim of the glass.
Outstanding retention from dense foam with a tight bead. Thick lacing.
Fully opaque and the color of peach flesh.
Very nice integrated pour on all Modern Times hazy IPA's, I haven't run into any sludge yet on any of them.
Bold nose of orange, pine, lemon oil, and a noticeable bready base.
Bitter orange peel, spicy pine, melon and pineapple flavor...citrus pith/rind bitterness. Unique flavor combo.
Medium body, soft mouthfeel with a good punch of bitterness...more than the typical NEIPA. Slight, lingering heat. Finish is lengthy and mostly dry.
Very Good to Outstanding.
