Ripe and fresh like Jessica Alba doin’ Sunday laundry. Smooth and clean like your last Denise Richards dream. And sleek, yet meek like the girl who works the juice bar at your local Whole Foods who barely has the courage to look you in the eye when you say hi.
Tortuga is all that. Tortuga is a wonderful thing. All wrapped up together, Tortuga is sexy like Dark Angel herself. It’s reminiscent of your best illicit dream, and it breaks through like the qt you’ve had your eye on forever finally did when you asked for her name.
Take a sip. Become these things. Swallow. Realize your dreams. Tortuga has Raul at peace.

Picked up a bomber from the Craft Beer Quick Stop on 4-22-18 for $7.99. No visible bottling date but bottling date but this is the MT Beer April release.
Beer poured orange with a decent head that dissipated quickly.
Nose is sour lemon forward with some fresh oranges.
Taste was a sweet tart initially with a big lacto bite. Subsequent sips brings out lemon and oranges.
Mouthfeel is light and really refreshing, very nice on a 110 degree day in Phoenix.
Overall the initial sour shock on my palette is jolting but once i became acclimated it was a very nice refreshing brew.

Was excited to try Modern Times’ April release, called Tortuga. Front of the bottled called it a tangerine, soursop sour. Had no idea going in what a soursop was. Online and bottle description read, “This supremely crushable liquid marvel marries the tart refreshment of a classic Berliner with the delectably juicy, citrusy radness of tangerines & soursops. If you’re wondering what the hell a soursop is, it’s that green, prickly fruit you’ve always eyed in the produce aisle but never worked up the nerve to throw in your cart. It tastes like a cross between a pineapple and a papaya, and if you’ve never tasted one, this delightful beverage is a pretty fantastic introduction.” Huh? That’s what a soursop is. Sounds delicious.
Poured a gold-to-light amber clear color with two fingers of off-white frothy head. Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Good watery lacing. Average watery retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Pretty much as described in the nose as I smelled tangerine, apricot, papaya and pineapple. Maybe also some lemon zest, peach, floral, herbal, lactose and a hint of vomit. (Smell - 3.50)
Taste was a much better and more flavorful than the nose. Got apricot, peach, pear, tangerine, papaya, mango, pineapple, passionfruit and red grapefruit. (Taste - 4.25)
Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Long, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was much better than I thought it was going to be. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

For the style it's pretty good. Tangerine is subtle. Poured 2 inches of white foam that disappeared pretty quickly. Good refreshing beer, but was hoping for something a little more flavorful.
