16 oz can into a Modern Times mid-century modern pint glass
Brew looks like straight-up orange juice, if orange juice gave off a pillowy, sticky head that never fully recedes. Wafts of pineapple juice and orange zest hit the nose, propelled by detectable alcohol volatiles. Super smooth and juicy on the palate, really tastes like a grassy, oaky pineapple juice.
A lot of MT's north-east styles are tasting the same, this one stands out. Hope they bring into their regular rotation.

On draft. Cloudy golden orange body, one finger white head, good retention, lots of lacing. Not surprisingly, lots of citrus, grapefruit, light caramel, a bit of floral and resin. It's a hazy IPA that is packing the hop presence here. Minimal bitterness on the backend. Good fruity flavour. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, appropriate, soft and creamy, well carbonated and easy to drink.

very smooth and fruity, well balanced and crisp. strikes that balances of green, juicy, and sweeter malty characteristics to create a well rounded beer. good looking and solid mouthfeel, overall quite enjoyable!

Straight pour from a 16oz can to a tall, narrow pint (Green Cheek nucleated flute). According to a black ink canning date on the underside of the can, this was canned on April 12, 2018. That would make this beer four weeks old at the time of consumption. I would’ve liked to get to this sooner, but I didn’t get to drink it until almost two and a half weeks after the initial pick up for this online release, which in turn was over a week after the initial canning run so … I drank it as fresh as I reasonably could.
Appearance (4.5): This pours out three solid fingers of crackly ivory foam, capping a nearly murky tan body with orange highlights. This one is hazy AF. The head dies down very slowly, leaving a rocky cap and tightly woven, clumpy cobwebs of lacing. The retention is outstanding, frankly. A bit too hazy for my taste, but I’m not totally averse to the murk. Gorgeous for this strain of (D)IPA.
Smell (4.5): The nose is redolent with candied orange peel, ripe papaya flesh, and lemon curd. There’s a really nice, dank layer of aromas superimposed, composed of citrusy resin and a touch of evergreen. Malt and grain does come through a bit, with a doughy, softly starchy dumpling note, plus a hint of sugar cookie. I looooove the bouquet of juicy citrusy and dank coming out of the glass.
Taste (4.5): On the palate, a lot of the juiciness comes through with a crisp, clean finish that’s grassy and a little lemony, effectively shifting the balance from jammy citrus to herbal, grassy dankness (without subtracting anything presented in the nose). The malt/grain body here is so, so soft, though—dumplings, southern white bread, and a bit of common cracker. Miraculously, no sign of booze whatsoever, and no hop burn at all. Also, in spite of the lean, crisp finish and notable hop presence, it feels nearly devoid of bitterness. I don’t quite get it, frankly, but this is soft and juicy and lean and crushable. As it warms, the subtle pieces of candied orange peel, lemon curd, and papaya flesh come out more, while retaining the light, clean, dank finish. Hachi machi.
Mouthfeel (5.0): Again, so, so soft. The beer comes in with a very fine-pointed, tingly carbonation that’s not aggressive but very much “there” as soon as it washes over the palate. The body, meanwhile, feels thoroughly medium-weight, but nice and chewy at the same time. That said, the lean hop bitterness lightens it up a bit, and in spite of the extremely soft malt and hop juiciness, it finishes clean. Again, no booze or hop burn. The carbonation foams up with an appropriately restrained volume as it washes out. The feel is perfect.
Overall (4.5): No joke, this is outstanding. How on earth they brewed this at 8% ABV and made it softer, juicier, and cleaner at the same time than maybe any top-tier NE single IPAs I’ve had, is beyond me. Like, what the fuck, man. It’s soft, crushable, juicy, not too heavy, but fully satisfying, creamy, and clean all at the same time. And, it doesn’t feel like the hop component was compromised to get it so smooth and clean: the hops are big, juicy, and beautiful, but still contribute a crisp, dank finish that’s never aggressive. This is outstanding, and highly recommended.
