The Northeast and West Coast find delicious common ground in this glorious union of two beloved schools of dankness. This lupulin laden fireworks-display contains mountains of Simcoe, Centennial, Nugget, Citra, Denali Oil, & Eureka Oil, layered over a foundation of meticulously layered 2-row barley, wheat, and golden oats and fermented with London III. It’s two worlds colliding in the tastiest way possible.

Hazy yellow brew with plenty of foam in the Duvel tulip. The taste is orange and sunshine with lemon candy. Aromas swirl with cucumber, orange peel, and fragrant Meyer lemon. Very pleasingly sudsy in the mouth with a light yet malty body.
Warm malt to start with a delirium of hops. Pineapple sauce with an acidic touch. Some citrus rind in the aftertaste, actually a touch of candied grapefruit peel, but not overly bitter. This is my favorite of the current crop of new IPAs in San Diego County. Leave it to Modern Times to find the sweet spot indeed. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Barons Market.

Picked up a bomber from the Craft Beer Hop Stop on 6-21-18 for $7.99. Bottled on 5-22-18; consumed on 10-19-18. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured a hazy gold with a nice white head that is leaving lacing behind.
Nose is fresh citrus and tropical hops, very nice!
Taste is a nice combo of orange, mango, and grapefruit over a nice sized malt baseline. Finish is a nice touch of pine and citrus rind to let you know this is an IPA.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and refreshing.
Overall another excellent hybrid IPA from Modern TImes!

Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Clear 16.5-oz. Belgian ale tulip
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $7.49
Purchased: July 26, 2018
Consumed: July 26, 2018
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Misc.: Bottled on May 22, 2018
Was a little behind on searching out this one as it was their June release. But finally picked it up at Windmill Farms on a lunch break from work. A little older than I would like (65 days), but still needed to try it. Bottle description read, “The Northeast and West Coast find delicious common ground in this glorious union of two beloved schools of dankness. This lupulin laden fireworks-display contains mountains of Simcoe, Centennial, Nugget, Citra, Denali Oil, & Eureka Oil, layered over a foundation of meticulously layered 2-row barley, wheat, and golden oats and fermented with London III. Poured a gold hazy color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect foamy spiderweb lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Denali, Citra and Simcoe up front. Also peach, dry apricot, pear, apple, pineapple, grapefruit, passion fruit, wet dank pine, lime zest and citrus zest. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted a nice mix of Simcoe and Denali from the beginning, with Citra and dry Centennial following. Also apricot, peppery spice, pineapple, grapefruit, pear, passion fruit, dank pine and citrus zest. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Just another solid offering from Modern Times. (Overall - 4.00)

The beer pours out a medium to full on hazy dark golden orange color, with 1 finger of off white head, with nice lacing------------- the aromas are of orange cream, nectarine, peach, lesser pine and canned mandarin oranges---------------- the flavors are of pine, grapefruit, nectarine, orange, dank weed and sweet malts, the beer has a full mouthfeel with no bitterness at all---------------------- overall this beer was exceptional - this one has all the looks and smells of a new England ipa with the pine and dank flavors of them west coast ipa's

Pours a beautiful opaque gold with a finger of creamy head that has great retention
Smells of sweet tropical fruit and some stone fruit....think guava, papaya, and ripe peach
While there is certainly a fruit presence in the taste, it’s more subdued, and instead citrus rind is much more prevalent, with a bit of herbal dankness
Smooth, finely carbonated, with a moderate bitterness, which is nice to see
I’m really enjoyed this beer...interesting blend of east and west coast styles, taking some of the best pieces from each. Appearance and nose is all NEIPA, taste is solidly west coast, and it has nice soft mouthfeel characteristic of NEIPA while blending in a bit of hop bite.
Really well done.
