We recently had the pleasure of kicking it with the Humble Sea Brewing Co. homies for this collaboration. A deliciously crisp foggy pilsner, hopped with Nelson & Perle and sporting a malt bill miming their beloved Foggy IPA's. It promises to be a beverage of surpassing delectability.

Canned on 03/04/19, 181.
Definitely a unique pour for a pilsner. Hazy golden yellow, with frothy white lace that is thin and fizzles out quickly.
The nose right away had a breadiness to it, with aromas of toast, sesame, pepper, and rice. The rice fades quickly, but floral undertones give it a slight sweetness and help to highlight some of the lemony citrus aromas in this beer as well. Big, sweet aromas of lemon and mango really come out as the beer warms, imparting a great sweetness.
Very similar to the nose, with that peppery quality really showcasing, along with a re-emergence of toasted sesame, hay, grapefruit, and just a hint of barnyard from that lager yeast. Such an interesting complexity to this beer, one that starts dry but becomes increasingly juicier and with more predominant citrus as it breathes more and warms slightly.
As mentioned, it is fairly dry, but still retains a juicy mouthfeel and small amounts of residual sticky mouth-coating. Crisp, clean, and bready in the finish, with a medium, seltzery carbonation throughout.

Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Modern Times 16-oz. Willi Becher glass
From: Modern Times Lomaland in Point Loma (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $13 for a 4-pack

Misc.: Canned March 4, 2019; Collab between Modern Times and Humble Sea
Went to Modern Times Lomaland to pick up my 4-pack cans of Hedge Witch and Temple of Ruin, but walked out with a 4-pack of this (Mist Dragon) and Dream Pop, and single cans of a pair of imperial stouts. Welp. Anyway, had tried a taster of this back in December 2018 and gave it a 4.0 on Untappd, writing, “Called for a hazy IPA malt bill & fermented with lager yeast before dry-hopping with Nelson. A foggy lager is about right.” Description of this was, “This collab with the lovely folks at Humble Sea is a glorious union of two disparate realms. We started with a hazy IPA malt-bill and fermented with lager yeast before lightly dry-hopping with Nelson. The result is a 5.6% foggy lager sporting aromas of white grape, lychee, and spicy wild grass, with a pillowy soft mouthfeel and lager-like finish. It’s a majestic new beast, and a testament to the combined powers of weird minds. Brace yourself.” Hoped it was as good as I remembered.
Poured a medium-yellow hazy color with two fingers of off-white frothy head. Could see some bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass and different speeds. Very good spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.00)
Smelled dry Nelson, white grape, white grapefruit, pineapple, cooked spinach or seaweed, salt, pepper, hay and grass. More Nelson, grapefruit and hay from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted similar to the nose. Got that dry-hopped Nelson up front, followed by white pepper, white grape, white grapefruit, pineapple, hay, grass and lager yeast. (Taste - 4.25)
Light body. Thin texture. Lively carbonation. Dry finish. (Feel - 4.00)
This was even better than I remember it. Just an outstanding hoppy pilsner, one of my favorite styles. (Overall - 4.00)
