The brewing wizards up in Portland just finished up our first-ever mega Berliner, and initial tests have concluded that it's an absolute banger. Overloaded with gob-smacking amounts of raspberry, cranberry, and strawberry, this colossal beverage is a fruit bonanza that you don't want to miss. It's a 10% flavor missile on a direct course for your tastebuds, so we'd suggest that you brace for impact.

Good head production and decent retention for the style and ABV. Body is deeply red and purple.

Nose is absolutely swimming with notes of cranberry, raspberry, and strawberry, about in that order. It's lovely, but there's very little else to it - some stray notes of vanilla, cinnamon, and vinegar.

Whew! A monster on the palate, with a very restrained sourness, some milky funk, and waves and waves of berries. Similar flavor profile to the nose. It doesn't much come across as a Berliner Weisse.

The massive amount of berries starts to take a toll on the palate, stinging the tongue with a lasting pain - which is surprising, as it doesn't come across as particularly sour.

For a double-digit ABV beer, this is unbelievably drinkable. The berries are unmistakable, but there isn't much else to it, to be fair. The tongue-punching tartness is really surprising, and honestly not pleasant, but everything about it is very solid at the very worst.

I'm no beer snob and I'm no beer expert... so don't look for fancy terms and too much thoughtfulness outta me. I was excited to try this. I'm not familiar with Berliner Weisse, but the description just made it sound like it would be tangy and fruity and heady. And it is... but it also comes with a lot of yuckface.

It smelled and looked really promising-- like someone kissed a bowl full of berries with gasoline. At first touch to the tongue all is right in the world and it is like a muddy fruit punch. But as soon as you begin to curl your tongue up to get it down your gullet it gets bitter and and acrid. Maybe this kind of beer is supposed to taste like something you find in a bottle under the sink; I don't know. But I like my beer to taste like beer and my fruity beers to taste like fruity beers. And this is one that I am just going to glug down the rest of for my 10% buzz and never touch again.

All time beer. Pours smooth. Extra cranberry flavor for this year. Not too boozy. Sweet and to the point

Misc.: Quick review

Ducked over to Modern Times before a golf round specifically for this beer. Online description read, “The brewing wizards up in Portland just finished up our first-ever mega Berliner, and initial tests have concluded that it's an absolute banger. Overloaded with gob-smacking amounts of raspberry, cranberry, and strawberry, this colossal beverage is a fruit bonanza that you don't want to miss. Poured a deep amber murky color with 1-to-2 fingers of white amber frothy head when I got it. No noticeable underneath. Outstanding spotty lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled big notes of raspberry, followed by strawberry, cranberry, olallieberry, candied sugar, purple grape juice and cherry. (Smell - 4.50)

First thing I noticed was how boozy it was. Was getting all that 10 percent ABV. Not as good as the nose. Got raspberry, cranberry, strawberry, olallieberry, purple grape, plum, black cherry and candied sugar. Got more tart as it went on. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Boozy, sweet finish. (Feel - 3.75)

This was an outstanding beer overall. Glad I got to try it. (Overall - 4.00)
