Collaboration with Culmination Brewing Company
Originally conceived in collaboration with the excellent folks from Culmination Brewing, this incredibly bomb gose was kettle-soured and heaped to the rafters with guava, cucumber, and lime. It’s refreshment on an unparalleled level, and a resounding testament to the power of friendship.

Aroma is fruit, wheat, salt and a hint of tropical fruit/cucumber. The flavor is cucumber/salad, wheat, fruit and a tropical fruit/tart/medium sweet finish.

Glass: Monks House of Ale 12-oz. tulip
Price: $3.00
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa, Calif.
Purchased: July 7, 2020
Consumed: July 11, 2020
Misc.: Canned on June 24, 2020
Had Rachel pick this up for me at Trader Joe’s. It was their special release for July. The Modern Times website calls it, “Originally conceived in collaboration with the excellent folks from Culmination Brewing, this incredibly bomb gose was kettle-soured and heaped to the rafters with guava, cucumber, and lime. It’s refreshment on an unparalleled level, and a resounding testament to the power of friendship.” Seemed perfect for this hot day.
Poured a medium yellow hazy color with four fingers of rocky white head. Plenty of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled a mix of cucumber and lime from the get-go. Really fighting each other. Also sea salt and the guava that the can mentions, and green vine, fresh-cut grass, pear, green grape and herbal. Much of the same from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted even better than the nose. Wow. This is delicious. In order got lime, cucumber, guava, pear, green apple, green grape, sea salt, fresh-cut grass, vegetable stem and herbal. (Taste - 4.50)
Light body. Oily-to-thin texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Long, refreshing finish. (Feel - 4.75)
Wow. What a pleasant surprise. This was a world-class Gose. (Overall - 4.50)

Pours a color that reminds me of white peach flesh. Moderately hazy. Fizzy white head with decent retention.
Aroma is garden fresh cucumber, lime, and some earthiness.
Well that's refreshing. Tons of cucumber with decent amounts of lime that works great with the tartness of the style. I'm not really tasting the guava, but I imagine it helps to hold the flavors together. Nice saltiness in the finish. Slightly sweet.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and pillowy. Carbonation is moderate high. Alcohol warmth is all but unnoticable.
Overall, this is an extremely refreshing beer. Would love this on the beach with some fish tacos.

Poured as a nice golden color wit ha thin white head on top. The smell of the beer is tart with a healthy amount of cucumber giving you a little rap on the beak. The taste has a salty tart cucumber flavor pretty much from start to finish, pretty refreshing for the time of year. The feel is light and tangy, finishes dry. Overall the beer is pretty good.

A tart, unique and refreshing gose; Modern Times coming in clutch once again.
Pours a hazy yellow with a faint pale green tint. White head rises up with the pour, but as with most goses, retention is weak and lacing is minimal.
Clear aromas of cucumber, guava and lime; this beer delivers the goods as promised. The cucumber has a bit of a lightly pickled element, with notes of underripe banana, zucchini and sea salt on the finish, alongside oyster crackers and fresh cucumber that lingers.
Upon sipping, sweet/tart guava blends with notes of bitter lime pith and the freshness of cucumber. Hints of white grape and plum in the mix, but very light and smooth overall with minimal sweetness and a nice balance between the tartness and light salt.
Clean and fresh all the way through with a surprising amount of body, which I would categorize as medium-light.
Delicious. Another refreshing tropical gose from Modern Times. Cheers!

Dominant flavor is definitely cucumber with a citrusy backbone and light wheaty punch. Absolutely the healthiest tasting beer I've ever had. I think it works, but I could easily see others pass on this. For what it is, it's well crafted no doubt. Only ding is zero head to this beer.

Tart and a little brackish, this is a fair gose. But I can’t get past the smell. One of few beers from Modern Times that I regret buying.
