Type: 32-oz. crowler
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
Price: $15.00
From: Modern Times Lomaland in Point Loma (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: May 13, 2020
Consumed: May 13, 2020
Misc.: Crowled on May 13, 2020
Pre-ordered this on a Wednesday after pre-ordering a bunch of other stuff on the previous Saturday. Really the description on their website won me over - “This shockingly crushable IPA was loaded with Galaxy, Strata, Nelson, & Mosaic hops, which come together in a glorious barrage of pineapple, mango, and citrus with a vibrant juicy finish. It’s a pretty choice way to part with some of your dollars.” How about 15 of my dollars because it’s seems a little pricy? But really that hop combo of Strata, Nelson and Mosaic had me wanting to get it. Galaxy, you were there, too.
Poured a gold-to-light amber hazy color with three fingers of rocky-to-frothy off-white head. Could see some bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass. Perfect spiderweb lacing. World-class foamy lacing. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled an interesting mix of hops, in order getting Galaxy, Nelson, Mosaic and Strata. Lots of flavors going on. Also mango, passion fruit, tangerine peel, grapefruit, dank pine and trash. A little better out of the crowler with Galaxy and Nelson still leading the way. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about as good as the nose, maybe slightly better. Galaxy characteristics leading the way with passion fruit and dank pine. Also mango, tangerine peel, orange pulp, grapefruit, grass, herbal, pineapple and berry. Definitely Nelson, slight Mosaic and a little bit of Strata. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Maybe underrated this overall, but it’s outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)
