Always had great experiences with these guys, and this is no exception. Freshly canned just under four weeks ago, it pours beautifully into a nonic pint with a hazy yellow peach body that one can just make out light and shadows through. Head retention is great, and the lacing is elegant. No visible sediment, just a fine haze

Herbal aromas of dank citra and cashmere hops flood the nose, bringing to mind papaya, mango, hemp, pineapple, yellow grapefruit, yellow peach, honeydew melon, lemon, mandarin, hibiscus and lavender. Wow!

Incredibly, it tastes even better than it smells, with the melon, peach and papaya taking center stage. The herbal notes pop up with a bitter spike of grapefruit rind and lavender mid-palate, but dissipate quickly into notes of mango, pineapple and mandarin for a sweet and zesty finish.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a satisfyingly crisp and dry finish.

An excellent NE IPA. I prefer it to both Orderville and Mythic Worlds. Cheers!

$ 7.49 (Including shipping)/16 oz can ($ 0.468/oz). Received 5/30/20 from Craftshack, San Diego, CA. Reviewed 6/1/20.
Stamped on bottom of can “CANNED ON 04 22 20”. Stored at home upside down at 42 degrees and served at 45 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter.
Appearance – 3.75.
First pour – Pale straw (SRM 2), slight haze.
Body – Gold (SRM 5, marked on the can), murky and opaque. When held to direct light, same.
Head – Large (Maximum 4.5 cm, aggressive center pour), chalky white, high density with a few rocks, average retention, diminishing to a three to five mm crown and a thick partial cap. Lots of three-dimensional lacing remains as the head retracts.
Lacing – Excellent! Massive amount of torn curtain lacing as the level drops, coupled with the torn lacing from the head retraction.
Aroma – 4 – Opens with a burst of lemon from the cashmere hops and no yeast, no malt. As the lemon fades, a weaker fruity tropical melon smell arises.
Flavor – 4.25 – Light, slightly sweet and fruity, no malt, no yeast. No alcohol (6.8% ABV, as marked on the label) taste or aroma. Ends with a slightly bitter aftertaste. No diacetyl or dimethylsulfide.
Palate – 3.75 – Medium, creamy, soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Damn, this is a particularly good IPA. I think the worst beer I’ve ever had from Modern Times was good, with most being exceptionally good to excellent. This has a very good appearance and palate and an excellent aroma and taste. The label is the typical Modern Times label – well-designed with a ton of information in an easy to read format. I wish Modern Times was available locally!

Canned on 04/17/2020. Well, it’s a NEIPA (albeit, from a West Coast brewery) and it’s composed of Citra and Motueka and a few others, so of course it’s gonna be delicious!

16oz can poured in to a nonic glass. Can is dated 04/02/2020

Look- Hazy golden orange color. Modest off-white with great retention and solid lacing. Moderate/light carbonation streams visible.

Smell- Citrus (orange/tangerine, grapefruit, lemon and lime), tropical fruit (pineapple and mango), peach/nectarine and melon, grainy malt, faint pine and floral/grassy hop notes.

Taste- Similar to the aroma, citrus and tropical fruit, nectarine and melon, grainy malt and light pine, lingering faint bitter finish . Well balanced.

Feel- Medium/light bodied, on the sweeter side but somewhat crisp. Moderate carbonation on the tongue.

O- A very solid west coast take on a NE hazy. I haven't been a big fan of MT's recent releases but I like this one a lot.

Rachel picked this up for me as part of a last-ditch grocery trip for the next two weeks because of the Coronavirus. Online description read, “There is simply no way to adequately prepare your taste receptors for the jaw-dropping deluge of flavor contained herein. Packed with financially irresponsible amounts of incredibly choice Citra, Cashmere, and Motueka hops, this hazy IPA is a miraculously tasty juice-bomb replete with notes of tangerine, lime, citrus, and tropical magic. It’s a seriously excellent combo that may leave you with an intense desire to high-five the can.” Centennial is also mentioned on the can. Not that familiar with Cashmere hops, but it’s Modern Times so it has to be good.

Poured a golden hazy color with three fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubble streams creeping up along the sides of the glass. Almost perfect uneven foamy lacing. Perfect retention. A good looking beer. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled Citra, lime, Lemonhead candy, pine, Centennial, tangerine, grapefruit, melon, herbal, tropical zest and hints of coconut. More concentrated from the can with Citra, lemon and lime dominating. (Smell - 4.00)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose. Big notes of Citra, Lemonhead candy and lime. Also Centennial, pine, grapefruit, tangerine, melon, herbal, tropical zest and hints of coconut. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)

Was back and forth on a few of the categories, probably underrating this slightly overall. Very good. (Overall - 3.75)

Poured from a can - hazy and murky soft orange/gold with thick white head leaving a fair amount of foamy lacing. Nose is citrus and sweet malt and a bit of overripe melon. Taste follows nose with more citrus, melon and a pillowy soft and almost dry finish.

16oz canned 3/16/20, opened 5/7/20.
2 finger white cone of a head pops over the rim of the glass. Good retention, fades very slowly and leaves an early lacing.
Soft, orange-gold IPA - fully opaque. Thick lacing.
Full orange, citrus nose with a creamy malt base. A definite creamsicle aroma in effect.
Orange and lime is the first sip impression. The lime flavor has a nice intensity to it that plays well with the orange/citrus. Soft, doughy malt is apparent. Bitter citrus rind flavor in the finish.
Medium-full body with a soft and round mouthfeel. Low level bitterness but is definitely present and welcome. An extra point here for a great pour on a NEIPA, you get all 16oz of this sludge in the bottom of the can to foul up the pour. Very consistent on the pour and well integrated throughout.
I still haven't had anything subpar from Modern Times, very impressive.

Canned 4/2, sampled 5/1. Reviewed from notes, 16oz can into a pint nonic.

A: Pours out a hazy soft pale gold that looks a lot like orange juice, with a rocky and fizzy white head with minimal lacing.

S: Big stone fruit notes from the Citra, along with a clean and snappy melon characteristic and some pineapple.

T: There is a fruity bite in the palate that is familiar in Citra beers; more stone fruit, citrus, and tropical notes. Bitterness is present but not overwhelming.

MF: Fluffy body leans lighter and carries that familiar bitterness well.

O: I liked this one a lot, an easy drinking and enjoyable NEIPA, if somewhat commonplace.

Can poured into a Modern Times Beer glass

A: Pours hazy golden amber with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a light layer and leaves some nice lacing.

S: Vibrant tropical and stone fruit, a hint of melon, some citrus, slight grassy herbal notes, faint coconut, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Citrus, tangerine, lemon, and lime, tropical and stone fruit slowly take over, peach, mango, guava, apricot, and a touch of melon, definitely a little coconut pokes through, slight underlying grassy, floral, and herbal notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, somewhat soft on the palate.

O: This is more like it. After having a couple kinda "meh" MT beers recently it's nice to see them back on track. Probably my favorite use of Cashmere hops to date. My only gripe is the front of the can calls it a "Hazy Citra IPA" when there's so much more going on.

My word. This one hits you like a dream that you don’t want to forget. I mean, this one is a straight KO like losing your virginity to a Victoria Secret Angel - yeah, Raul is into that. Lush, creamy, soft and smooth like Elsa Hosk in a silk onesie. Please, don’t ever wake me. Raul just simply wants to “be” with Star Cloud.

Be well.

This one is not really hazy, just a little cloud on the amber brew. Plenty of foam and tingly on the tongue, along with the slippery oat business. Besides Citra, additional hops are Motueka, Cashmere, and Centennial. Lightly fruity. Flavors of melon and pencil shavings and a hint of peach.

Pleasantly aromatic with green melon and citrus peel. Crisp and just slightly sweet. Some bitterness and woody notes in the finish. Overall this is another decent IPA from the MT wizards and their endless stash of great hops. From the 16 oz can delivered from MT.

F: refreshing, Guinness like mouthfeel
O: a very well made hazy citra IPA, woohoo!
