Collaboration with North Park Beer Company.
We teamed up with our tight homies/close neighbors at North Park Beer to concoct this absolutely stellar West Coast IPA. Dry-hopped with massive and equal amounts of Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Strata, this beer is a San-Diego-centric vortex of citrusy, tropical, pine-laced dankness that does its zip code proud.

16 oz can to pint glass
Straw-yellow appearance, clear, moderate pour yields a sticky 1/2 inch head
Fragrant bouquet, snappy, floral hops smashed up against honey-sweet biscuits
Flavors are more citrusy and tropical and resiny than the nose portends. Bitter and sweet aspects blend seamlessly. Nuances of lemon pepper, toffee, melon rind. Complex but harmonious profile.
One of the best IPA’s I’ve had in awhile. Reminds me of an Alpine brew before they sold to Green Flash.

Glass: Firestone 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $21.50 for a 4-pack
From: Modern Times Lomaland in Point Loma (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Oct. 24, 2020; Picked up Oct. 29, 2020
Consumed: Oct. 29, 2020
Misc.: Collaboration with North Park; No canned on date
Ordered a 4-pack of this along with a pastry stout on Oct. 24, then added on some more on Oct. 29 when I picked it up. This was a collab with North Park, so two of my four favorite breweries in San Diego. Email description for this one read, “We teamed up with our tight homies/close neighbors at North Park Beer to concoct this absolutely stellar West Coast IPA. Poured a pale clear color with four fingers of rocky white head. Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class uneven layered lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled more Simcoe and Strata than anything else initially, followed by Mosaic and lesser Citra. Also garlic, onion, bitter pine, black pepper, grapefruit rind, floral, rose blossom and body odor. A little cleaner out of the can with Simcoe and Strata still leading the way. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted a little different from the smell. Definitely was getting that “Modern Times” taste (malt? yeast?) for whatever that means. Specifically got Strata, Simcoe, Citra, garlic, onion, black pepper, bitter pine, grapefruit rind, floral, rose blossom, Mosaic and body odor. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was an excellent IPA overall. Glad I grabbed a 4-pack. (Overall - 4.25)
