This marvelously decadent imperial dessert-stout was aged for 9 months in bourbon barrels and loaded with chocolate malts, vegan marshmallows, coconut, & vanilla. The resulting profile explodes with big notes of marshmallow, vanilla, and bourbon-soaked oak, followed by toasted coconut and soft vanilla flavors that linger in the finish along with hints of fudge brownie and fig. If you’re looking to treat yourself, you’ve found your beverage.

Had a quick flight while picking up some lagers at Modern Times. Would be just my second flight at a brewery since COVID started (so second in 54 weeks) and first since Oct. 2020 when I had one at Resident. Saved the best for last. The description on Untappd called for “This marvelously decadent imperial dessert-stout was aged for 9 months in bourbon barrels and loaded with chocolate malts, vegan marshmallows, coconut, & vanilla. Poured a pittch-black color with less than a finger of what appeared to be khaki tan head when I got it. Calm setting underneath. Average watery lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled vanilla, marshmallow, milk chocolate syrup, brownie batter, smooth bourbon, caramel, toffee, oak, toasted coconut, fig, plum and dark fruit. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted better than the nose. Got toasted marshmallow, vanilla, milk chocolate syrup, toasted coconut, brownie batter, smooth bourbon, oaky wood, caramel, toffee, hints of butterscotch, fig, plum, dark fruit and lingering spice. The 14 pct. ABV was fairly well hidden. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, smooth finish. (Feel - 4.75)
Was back and forth on a few categories, maybe undervaluing either the smell or the taste, but not quite both. World-class for a pastry stout overall. (Overall - 4.50)
