angerine juice, melon, unripe mango and Grapefruit. Cracker malt profile with a bit of wheat. Chalky. Lighter bodied. Dry finish. Lower sweetness. Not bad.

A collaborative effort with Pipeworks Brewing, Astro Dwarf is a canned offering from Rhinegeist Brewing out of Ohio. Featuring Bravo, Mosaic, Galaxy and Hallertau Blanc hops, it is meant to emulate (but likely not completely ape) the idea of a hazy and juicy IPA originating from New England.
Pouring a deep golden color with nearly-complete opacity and bearing a lot of particulate matter in the body, this beer presents a bit more roughly than most homogeneously-hazed NEIPAs, but it does have great legs and solid-as-hell retention in the head department. Several fingers of white foam seem to cling to the sides of my glass, lacing throughout with spectacular aplomb. Not everyone is going to love the moderately-"dirty" appearance of this beer's main body, but most fanatics should applaud its incredible retention, legs and lace.
The nose is very Hallertau Blanc forward, with some strong gooseberry, white grape and guava notes combining with the berry-forward, dank elements of Mosaic. I get some blackberry, raspberry and scallion here as well with some passion fruit and grapefruit from the Galaxy addition. This beer is superbly done in terms of hop-additions... I get every hop they claim to have added, in specific and measured delineations. Some English-type malt is present, giving off some biscuity graininess alongside some guava, rye-like earthy spice and tangerine-ish citrus. Smells great... complex and unique.
Flavor seems to mostly follow my first impressions in the nose, with a dry white-wine like note upfront bringing forth white grape, melon and bright citrus. Following those notes, I get a little bit of crackery malt, green onion, dank elements, grassy hops and tangerine/citrus pith. Toward the finish, more tropical fruit comes out and I almost taste coconut alongside the guava and intense passion fruit. Slight darker berry from the Mosaic hops as each sip rounds out.
Feel is extremely dry and light here, with a moderately-high carbonation and (I assume) high attenuation. This is all about the hops, though there is a little bit of chalkiness from the oats and yeast. Pipeworks and Rhinegeist did a great job with this one... Astro Dwarf is one of those beers I could sip for an hour or crush multiples of at a party... it has a solid versatility due to the format it comes in and the deftly-defined recipe. Recommended!
