The appearance was a dark amber color with a slim cap of a white foamy head that dissipated immediately. There wasn't any lacing.
The smell had some grainy burnt caramel malts. A light nuttiness does come through after a bit of warming.
The taste was moderately sweet with some toast in and around. A long sweet caramel aftertaste leads into the finish.
The mouthfeel had a low carbonation with a moderately sweet sticky caramel feel on it, somewhat sessionable.
Overall, its nothing special, maybe again, more likely with respected food.

Stopped in Pocatello to visit my brother-in-law and family. He suggested grabbing a bite at Portneuf before we left. Nice little brewery/restaurant. Owner showed us to our seats. Decided to get the beer sampler, just because I can't pass up trying new brews. This was a seasonal beer described as an 'Imperial Amber' and was the tastiest of the bunch. Other resources online indicate that it is a lager. Decided to get a growler for the trip home.
Deep amber with 1/4" white head that fades rapidly.
Smells a bit grainy with some caramel. Fairly simple.
No idea what the ABV is, but I'd guess in the 6-8% range. Sweet and more on the malty side. Low bitterness (or my recent IPA binge has numbed my tongue). I recalled this being one of the more hoppy samples. Flavor is simple but enjoyable.
Low carbonation, but most pours from growlers are in my experience.
Decent beer. Wouldn't pursue again, but glad to have tried something new.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
