Bursting with tropical fruit character, JUPA is our crushable juicy pale ale packed to the brim with hops from the USA for refreshing flavours of mango and pineapple.

Hopped with Simcoe in the boil and dry-hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and BRU-1, JUPA has bold, juicy citrus flavours and a tropical fruit character bursting with pineapple, mango and papaya. It was brewed with a touch of wheat and oats for a silky malt backbone, allowing the hops to shine.

330ml can.
L: Clear, gold with a short-lived head.
S: Mango, lychee
T: Lots of juicy, tropical fruit from its American hops but you never lose sight of the malt base. Moderate bitterness.
F: Medium body with a thick, oily mouthfeel.
O: Decent APA from London.

L3.5 Very lively in appearance, head came and went quicly. Light straw.
S4.5 Lovely nose, lots of juicy fruits.
T2.75 Bad. Very lacking in flavour. At 5.5% all I'm getting is a dry alcohol. If you like champagne you might like this. None of the promised pineapple.
F4 Fine.
O3 Very disappointing.

330ml Can from Beer52 (£0.75):
Light golden & fairly clear with a 3cm, foamy white head that very slowly halves in size. The nose is fresh & fruit with grapefruit, citrus & a tropical fruit backing with a little bitterness to finish. It had a fruity taste that's more bitter than the nose with pine, mango & a few more tropical fruits on top of the citrus & floral base. Overall it's fresh & balanced with a dry bitter finish that's well carbonated too.

Aroma is citrus and a touch of grapefruit
Some lychee in that flavour too

Had also at Waterloo Tap.
I like JUPA because the bitterness never got to a bittersweet finish... which is to say, the malts were allowed to come back to play.

I went on five Points website and they seem sincere and have a hybrid angle of merging the British tradition with the best of the international craft movement. But.... does that make them uncommon ?

CAN
Hammered tin; overripe papaya + a touch of onion; sliver of Saltine, big pineapple rind, mango + musty lemon, a blast of garlic, and flinty end; light.

Simcoe, Citra, Mosaic. Supposedly.

Surprised that this is ice-clear - can you do juicy without haze these days? That contradiction carries through: lots of vulgar tropical fruit smoothie, but instead of the softness of a NEIPA, it sits on a razor thin body (wheat + oats? where?) yet with no real bitterness. Mosaic is tearing a swath of savoury destruction. And at 5.5%, am I supposed to session this? Plus a ton of sediment at the bottom of the can?! A confusing melange of half-styles that seems to overlap with beers 5P already has in their portfolio (yet this is core range?) I can’t picture ever really wanting to drink this.
