Clear amber in the widemouth Ball jar. Not much foam, though mouthfeel is plenty spritzy. Lots of yeasty tang. Moderate bitterness at first. Tastes more like yeasty bitterness than a lot of hops. some mellow malt followed by the drying Belgian effect.
A winey sensation. After some sipping the bitterness kicks in a little harder along with some stranger flavors like burnt chestnuts, scorched butter, and bitter sage. This starts out pleasantly enough but the flavors grow harsher. Still, it's an interesting variation on the Belgian IPA theme. On tap at the 30th Street brewpub.
