Brewer describes this as a "dry-hopped Belgian-style tripel." Clear dark amber with adequate carbonation. The body seems oddly watery. This is the rocket fuel style of Belgian-inspired brews.

All of a sudden this tastes like pears-- off-dry pear wine. There is a sweet touch as well, and a jammy taste. Aroma is like alcohol-fumed grape jelly, along with blackberries and black currants. Warm and malty with a woody edge.

This dries out with the yeast after a while. I don't know how this fits in with the usual Belgian traditions, but it's a big hot stew and has plenty of Belgian yeast. On tap for the holiday season at their 30th Street brewpub.
