Fruitier than I expected for a Kolsch. But then, this is San Francisco and even it has room for experimentation and innovation. Purchased on tap at Gott's, SF airport. Helped me wash down a veggie burger.
Using my new rating system in which "3" is average, but a brew outside of the 2/3 Bell Curve usually gets less than a "3".....
Cable Car Kolsch Looks appetising for a short minute, could have a lasting foam. Smells also are slightly above average; I'm getting apples and pears, but it's also their harvest time. Tastes are balanced, no attempt to get extreme... which makes for a more likely table ale. Continues to salivate into the finish. Feel is medium-mouthed.
Because it helps a burger menu and because this is my second this summer from SFBC and because they innovate in the Anchor tradition (slowly) and because they do most of this as a husband-wife team, I give them very good Overall Hugs.
