12 oz can. Pours clean deep brown with red hue, two finger foamy head fades leaving rings. Aroma is sweet roastiness and toffee. Taste is full flavored, bitter chocolate and coffee, a little toffee and nuttiness. Nice hop bitterness keeps it from being too sweet. Dry finish with a full creamy mouthfeel. Overall delish brown ale, very well done.

Look:
This beer was quite "fluffy" with a 3 finger head poured out of a 12oz. can. The color is a deep reddish-brown that is hazy, but lets enough light through to create a nice glow.
Smell:
Slight tart fruit smell, caramelly, nutty, and malty scents as well.
Taste:
There's a slight bitterness and evidence of hops. There is a slight nutty sourness that hits next. Next there are smokey roasted malt flavors that nudge the rest of the flavors out. Also hints of chocolate and coffee. When those fade, you are left with some smokey porter traits.
Feel:
Fairly full bodied brown ale. There is a nice mouth feel that isn't syrupy feeling. It also finishes a bit dry.
Overall:
This is a great example of a Brown Ale. Better than many I've had. Not too weak and not too powerful like some that cross into a scottish ale style (not that scottish ales are bad). Give it a try!

a lot of times breweries that only make the standards, you know, pale, amber, porter, wheat kind of thing, dont really do much for me. it always seems so amateur and uninspired. while red leg tends to fall into that generic styles trap a little bit, this brown ale is up there with the best ones in colorado, and i really enjoyed this one. probably the best beer i have had from them, and totally unexpected. its a little lighter in color and body, which is okay for me in early fall. its got an awesome chocolate malt nose and taste to it, cocoa powder and a little less bitter roast than many. it feels sweeter throughout with a caramel center, but its dry in the finish. a frothy bready yeast gives it a little english flare, but with the hops on the back end this is decidedly american. beautifully balanced, drinkable as they come, and super fresh. the chocolate notes in this are what stands out for me. this is a perfect beer for the transition between late summer and early fall, and makes me more interested in other red leg beers.

Beer board has this beer at 37 IBU.
Very dark brown body with a creamy, sticky, light tan head. Charred grain and coffee ground aroma. The taste includes coffee and bitter chocolate flavors; slightly sweet, somewhat acidic; medium hop bitterness at the finish. Medium boy; dry finish.
Big dark ale flavor with a nice malt sweetness and a sharp, dry bite.
