August 12th, 2015 - Benchmark's Offisides is easily quaffed. A soft and foamy beer, it bolls itself as a "San Diego Dark Ale" which means nothing to me, and bridles at San Diego's identity as a town of hop puritans. It is hard to smell but extremely mild in flavor. A slight malty taste on a soft, smooth palate doesn't last long, but it's inoffensive.

Type: Draft
Glass: .4L (13.5oz) glass
From: Tiger! Tiger! in North Park (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $3.00 (selected beer between 5-8 p.m. on a Tuesday)
Purchased: July 1, 2014
Consumed: July 1, 2014
Misc.: Specially brewed for the World Cup
Poured a mahogany color with 1-2 fingers of khaki tan head when I got it. Spider web lacing along the sides of the glass. Above average retention on the top.
Smelled chocolate, citrus hops, toffee, cocoa nibs, fudge and light dog food.
Tasted similar to the nose, but without the dog food. Got chocolate, cocoa nibs, light smoky cocoa powder, citrus hops and spicy notes.
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Smooth finish.
Not too bad of a beer, especially for $3. I had another one right after.
