Ochre-tinged amber in the pint shaker. Nice cap of foam and a pleasant zingy carbonation on the tongue. Light bodied. Fragrant with the faintly fruity, flowery aroma of hops. The really noticeable feature is an unusual and tasty flavor. It turns out to be a light hand on the Fuggles and East Kent Goldings hops and a nice amount of Maris Otter English malt. It's the traditional ingredients but with a fresh and delicious result.
Warm and biscuity, the revelation is that it's possible to have a malty and tangy ESB with just the right amount of hops and only a modest bitterness. Floral and wheaty, grainy, perfumey, but all in balance. I don't think I've had a better domestic ESB style brew. This was my favorite of the several very good Intergalactic beers I tried.
