Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours slightly hazy golden yellow with a somewhat creamy eggshell white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.
S: Floral, tropical and stone fruit takes over, light citrus, a touch of pine, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.
T: Tropical and stone fruit, papaya, guava, apricot, peach, passion fruit, mango, and candied pineapple, some citrus, lemon, orange, and grapefruit, floral notes, a little resinous pine, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.
M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Not my favorite NG beer, but very solid.

West coast ipa, in appearance, with all the piney pith bitterness you’d expect. I did detect a sharp squeeze of lemon on the nose, bright and vibrant, and a long, pithy finish. Works for me.

Another great beer from NG. It tasted like a fruitier version of Ubahdank, which is a great beer. Can’t go wrong with NG!

In a taster at New Glory Eatery and Taproom...not as impressed with this IPA...notes were a bit muted with this one and nothing stood out. Nose was a hint of tropical hops and taste was a bit of that. Not a go to for me.

Look: Pours (almost) clear, bright yellow, with (originally) 3 fingers of head on an aggressive pour. The head is bright white, with small bubbles; the head retention is medium for style.
Smell: Very floral dominated, kind of sweet. Overall, not very atypical for a standard WC IPA.
Taste: Follows the nose really well. I'm not exactly sure what hops were used in this beer, but this is the taste that I'm used to with Simcoe-dominated IPAs. Not really getting any pine or citrus in the taste.
Feel: Slightly better than typical for the style. Carbonation is medium to high. The beer feels very well made, and balanced though.
Overall: Very pleasant West Coast IPA. I payed $3 for this can, which for California is practically zero. I love New Glory releases, especially at the current price points. Would drink again.

Canned approx. 12/17/17
Appearance - Pours clear and golden orange in color with a white, finger's width head. Sub-par retention, resulting in mostly barren surface and a thin ring of suds around the edge of the glass. No lacing.
Smell - Citrus, white grape, lightly toasted malt.
Taste - Follows the nose. Citrus, grape skin and some slight pineapple zing while malts come through with light toastiness and some caramel sweetness. Finish tingles with fruity acidity while that light toast character rides beneath.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with low-to-moderate carbonation. Slick, almost velvety texture with an easy, slightly dry and truly quaffable finish.
Overall - Wow. One of the better WC style IPA's I've had in quite a while. Lots of harmonious flavor and stupid drinkable. I passed this up when I was at the brewery but I was glad to pull the trigger when I saw it at a local liquor store. Pricey, but worth it.

Straight pour from a 16 oz can to one of Sierra Nevada’s special Spiegelau hop glasses (MY JESTER KING STEM BROKE!!). According to an orange sticker on the 4-pack carrier, this was canned on December 18, 2017 (“12/18/17”), making this beer four days old at the time of consumption. Purchased at the brewery earlier the same day.
Appearance (4.5): This pours out three full fingers of ivory-colored foam, capping a crystal-clear, light golden body with a steady stream of bubbles coming from the nucleated base. The head dies down VERY slowly, leaving a rocky, pock-marked cap and a craggy, viney series of collars composed of clumpy, wide splotches of lace tied together with thick legs. This certainly bears the looks a gorgeous, West Coast-style IPA.
Smell (4.0): From the glass, you get big notes of papaya, champagne mango, kumquat, navel orange flesh, and ripe pineapple flesh. Underneath lies a drier, grapefruit zest- and grass-laden framework, fleshed out with a slight but intact malt base that smells like common crackers and just a bit of floury, un-frosted sugar cookie. I feel like there’s a fruity dank character hanging out somewhere inside of this, too, but it’s mostly masked by the bright, sweet, tropical fruit tones. This has a ton of good notes, but could be a little more aromatic.
Taste (4.0): On the palate, it goes right back to old-school West Coast: it’s bright, dry, crisp, firmly bitter, and clean as hell. Strident red grapefruit pith on top, with a sturdy, slightly piney, definitely dank, resinous substructure dominate the hop composition here, along with just a touch of tangerine. As it opens up and warms a bit, kind of a grassy, gooseberry character takes shape, along with subtle berry flavors and a kind of multigrain pain de campagne, kind of sourdough malt body coming through. No booze to be seen here. Any that might be had is totally bowled over by that tight mixture of dank, grapefruit pith-driven bitterness and hop flavor.
Mouthfeel (4.25): Here, it meets the West Coast IPA profile but drinks its size, thankfully. The body is fairly dry but has a nice viscosity, while the carbonation distributes itself fairly evenly across the palate. It flicks into a nice tingle without much trouble, before foaming up nicely and washing out with enough oomph to clean up any signs of the fully medium-weight body. Again, no booze.
Overall (4.0): This is a really, really solid West Coast IPA. I tend to lust after the hazy juice bombs these days, but am always satisfied by a clean, bitter, bright iteration of the style. I bought this because I’m a sucker for Mosaic, always love Amarillo, and wanted to get a better sense of what Denali brings to the table. A nice, clean beer like this ought to showcase its hops, right? Overall, I think it does, and fairly well, but it’s so clean and bitter that I’m not sure it really shows off as much of those hops’ strong suits as it could. Still, it’s a damn good West Coast IPA. Recommended, if that’s what you’re looking for.
