Let’s get back to the classics! This brew is inspired by the pilsners first developed back in the 19th century. We use a pilsner grain that has been malted in the traditional Bohemian fashion along with 100% Tettnang hops. The resulting beer is floral with just a hint of spice. In typical pilsner fashion, it pours a bright, golden yellow. If you like crushable, ultra crisp beers, this one’s for you. Prost!

Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: North Park 16-oz. Willi Becher glass
Price: $10.99 for a 4-pack
From: Whole Foods Market in Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Purchased: Nov. 24, 2021
Consumed: Dec. 1, 2021
Misc.: Canned on July 20, 2021

Had Rachel pick me up a 4-pack of this while up in Manhattan Beach for Thanksgiving. Liked the first two cans I had, giving them a 4.25 on Untappd and writing of the first one “Could be the three hours it took to get to Manhattan Beach, but this seems excellent for the style.” New Glory’s website called this one “Let’s get back to the classics! Poured a clear straw color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see plenty of bubbles coming up from the bottom and sides of the glass. Decent watery lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled hay, sourdough yeast, white bread, black pepper, floral, unsalted white cracker, glue and earthy pilsner malt. A little better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Tasted better than the nose. Super dry. In order got hay, sourdough yeast, white bread, pear, bitter dry grass, black pepper, floral, unsalted white cracker, earthy pilsner malt and hints of white glue. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, dry finish. (Feel - 4.50)

Just a lovely spicy Czech pilsner. (Overall - 4.25)

Had this at the most recent trip to the brewery (early 2020).

Good golden pour with lots of clarity hits the right notes for appearance aside from the surprisingly thin and woeful retention on this beer poured right from the source in Granite Bay. The aroma is in the traditional vein, the lager yeast is on the lighter side, probably a 2.5/10 on the lager intensity yeast scale. Same with the hopping, they didn't dump a bunch of proprietary ipa hops into it, seems as normal noble hops as ever. You call it predictable, I call it reliable. Relatively crisp, light, but not water, good carbonation. Other review says wheat but I didn't find any wheat notes in the taste/mouth feel. Instead it had the usual hay, grass like 35 ibu bitterness going on.

Its not going to make anyone stop drinking Bierstadt, but its a respectable pilsner and we can always use more of those especially in the warmer summer months. I prolly need to buy a 4 pack of this next time instead of just having it on draft as my first beer after a drive.

Thanks again to flexabull for this 16 oz. can, split with my wife to break up the stout/IPA roll we’ve been on the last month or so. No canning date (shakes head in disappointment).

The pour is light yellow with a bare amount of invisible particular matter to keep it from being completely clear. A bit of floral graininess in the nose.

NGB Pils is clean. That’s the ultimate compliment & one not too many U.S. pils brewers get from this crank. Sharp saltines minus the salt (ines, I guess) with small portions of herbs, rough grains, wheat, with a touch of hop bitterness in the finish. Light & crisp. Kind of sorry I split this can up.

Hey brewers? Make more pils like this & I’ll have it in my fridge regularly. Very good beer.

This is a great example of a pilsner. Classic pilsner taste. Poured in a glass, you'd have no idea it was brewed in California.

Pours a clear tan gold, nice white foaming. Slight straw aroma with a muted grassy must on the palate. Easy drinking pilsner. Thanks to @xicanobeerrun for this.
