Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American Double / Imperial IPA
Glass: Pure Project 3rd anniversary 14-oz. Teku glass
Price: $5.19
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: May 13, 2022
Consumed: May 14, 2022
Misc.: Collaboration with Mraz Brewing Company; Packaged on March 30, 2022
Picked up a can of this on a recent trip to Windmill Farms along with a bunch of other stuff. Their website called this “We named this beer after our favorite strain of a plant that shall not be mentioned. While it won’t come with the same euphoric effects, it’s a damn good double that’ll have you coming back for more. It’s brewed with a bouquet of Mosaic Cryo, Ekuanot, Galaxy, Nelson Sauvin, and Columbus hops. It is then conditioned on Eureka! hop oil. This beer is incredibly dank with strong aromas and flavors of overripe pineapple and diesel. We wish you peace, love, and burps!”
Poured a light amber clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of frothy white head. Could see a few bubble streams coming up along the sides and from the bottom of the class at different speeds. Outstanding spotty lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Ekuanot and Mosaic jumped out on the nose with lesser Galaxy and Nelson. Also floral, bubblegum, diesel, pine, viney green vegetable, guava, mixed berry, peach, passion fruit and lime. Got better as it went down. (Smell - 4.00)
Ekuanot and Mosaic came out strong with lesser Galaxy and Nelson as the beer got down. Lots of spice. In order got viney green vegetable, bitter aspirin, diesel, cat piss (no Simcoe mentioned), pine, black pepper, caramel, light bubblegum, floral, guava, mixed berry, peach, passion fruit and lime. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Just a nice West Coast DIPA. Outstanding overall. (Overall - 4.00)
